2008 Drafted back in 2003, Steven White has always had promise, but also every injury known to man and some that aren't. It's long since time to try him in the bullpen.
2007 Injuries held Steven White back in 2005; poor performance at Triple-A held him back in 2006. Without a good secondary pitch, White will be coming to a bullpen near you.
2006 The line for his last two starts was 12 IP, 6 H, R, 2 BB, 22 K. He then went on to the AFL and pitched well, allowing a 3.94 ERA in 29.2 innings, though he was somewhat wild. Still, these are the things you hold onto after a season in which everything went to hell due to a rib cage pull and pancreatitis. White has very good stuff, and nothing that happened to him in 2005 should have changed that.
2005 One of the starting pitchers in the system who might actually retain that job description as he climbs the ladder. White has a good fastball that's getting faster, he knows where it's going, and the off-speed pitches are coming along. A long holdout has him a year behind where he could be, and he needs to move quickly to have a shot. Prospects, remember the five Gs: Get the money, Get to the bigs, Get the service time, Go to arbitration, Get the last laugh.
