BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2010 Brett Sinkbeil was chosen with the 19th overall pick in 2006, and it's increasingly likely that in that moment he hit his career peak. The ground-ball pitcher was more somewhat more effective after a move to the pen, but he'll never justify that pick.
2009 A right-hander who relies on his low-90s sinker to induce grounders, Sinkbeil struggled during his first taste of Double-A; lefties were a particular problem, as they hit .329 and slugged .506. The good news for the oft-injured Sinkbeil is that he was mostly healthy for a change, with the exception of a blister that developed in August. To regain his prospect status, he needs to add something to stop lefties, because without it he's just a groundballer with a nice move to first, a skill set that would limit him to the pen.
2008 The Marlins' top pick in 2006, Sinkbeil's full-season debut was marred by elbow and back problems. If he can stay healthy, he projects as a mid-rotation type, as he has outstanding command of a good sinker (yes, really) and a plus slider. As a result, he gets tons of ground balls, but when you are a college product in A-ball, scouts want to see more missed bats before they get too excited.
