BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2008 Bronson Sardinha pancaked in what was supposed to be his first full year at Triple-A last year and was busted back down to Double-A Trenton. When rosters expanded, Sardinha served as a pinch-runner and corner fill-in. His future is limited to that kind of 25th-man role, if that.
2007 Bronson Sardinha hit well in a smallish sample at Triple-A, the first positive thing he`d done in years. If he can keep it up, he`ll have a future in the utility trade.
2006 After playing every position except lifeguard, Sardinha has finally found a home in right field. The bad news is that moving to a power position puts more pressure on him to hit. Sardinha has a good attitude, and everyone hopes some of his doubles turn into home runs as he matures, but so far he doesn`t have the bat to justify a corner outfield spot. If his bat doesn`t develop this year, it will be time for his agent to start spinning his lack of a position as `versatility.`
2005 Sardinha should be traded while he maintains a good reputation, because he and the Yankees organization aren't doing each other any good. Drafted as a shortstop, Sardinha has also been a left fielder, center fielder and third baseman. With the position shifts have come fluctuations in offense, which have obscured whether or not his bat can sustain a position outside of the middle infield. The good news is that he should hit for decent averages and is willing to take a walk. Someone with a better idea should sort this out, if it can be sorted out.

2008-05-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)Can you give me some reasonable trades that will get players like Millar, Huff, Payton, and Ramon Hernandez off the Orioles roster?
(Mike from Jax, FL)
I've got half a sandwich, four AA batteries of unknown remaining power, a rookie Bronson Sardinha card, and the March 2007 issue of Cat Fancy. I don't suggest waiting to see what's behind door #2.

Seriously, these are guys who are on the wrong side of 30, are putting up EqAs below .260 (except Huff at .273), and with the exception of Hernandez play positions that are relatively easy to fill. I don't see any of them being in demand come the deadline. (Jay Jaffe)
