BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2008 After spending six years proving that he can't hit, Corey Ragsdale was finally convinced to take his cannon arm to the mound. He's raw as sushi, but he does throw hard.
2007 The year in Mets prospectdom was particularly embittering; take Corey Ragsdale. Once seen as a toolsy talent, a full year at Double-A only resurrected speculation that he might be better off as a pitcher.
2006 Holy Moly, that`s a lot of strikeouts! Ragsdale`s 169 whiffs were the third most in pro ball, topping major league leader Adam Dunn by one--and that`s in more than 100 fewer plate appearances against pitchers with much lower paychecks. Consider that none of the top ten whiffers in the bigs in `05 came close to that total while in the minors, save for Preston Wilson with 135. A big man for a shortstop, at least Ragsdale has a nice arm, and one should not easily dismiss the 50 extra-base hits.
