2012 Cedric Hunter made the Opening Day roster in 2011 and got five plate appearances before being shipped back to Triple-A, where he managed to avoid doing anything on offense, which is nearly impossible in Tucson.
2011 A modest walk rate not seen since 2007 earned Cedric Hunter his first stint at Triple-A, but once he got there, those free passes vanished as quickly as they had appeared. Even at the lower levels his swing generated mostly singles, and he needs those walks to offset his lack of power.
2009 Hunter led the minor leagues with 186 hits last year, but there are grave doubts about his future that focus on his defense. Right now, he's a tick above average as a runner, capable as a center fielder. He's also only 21 years old, so if that body thickens up, or if he loses even half a step, he'll be sent to a corner where his value will plunge. Hunter is a slasher at the plate, whipping his bat through the zone and hitting nearly everything thrown at him, but the aggressiveness comes at the price of very few walks and only gap power. If he can't stay in center, he's a fourth outfielder.
2008 Burner Cedric Hunter followed up a big debut with a raw performance in the Midwest League. Just 20, he has to get back to the highly skilled game he showed in 2006
2007 Georgia prep talent Cedric Hunter was the club`s third-round pick in last year`s draft and had one of the best debuts of any 2006 selection. He might not stick in center, though, and, without power, he might wind up lost in the tweener triangle.

2010-05-28 14:00:00 (link to chat)Cedric Hunter was always someone who intrigued me..... but he also seemed to always disappoint in the end. Are you excited about him this year? How does he fit into SD's plans?
(marjinwalker from DC)
I could see him getting some stints as a 4th outfielder, but that's about it. (Kevin Goldstein)
