2008 In something of a surprise, the Cardinals had Anderson skip High-A and move straight to the Texas League, where he hit for average and little else. Holding your own as a 20-year-old catcher in the Texas League is notable, but the excitement over Anderson is based largely on his ability to slap line drives, and his contact rate is low for hitter of that type. He hasn't shown power, and he has catcher's speed and average defensive skills. The end result is likely to be a Paul Lo Duca/A.J. Pierzynski-type of player in the majors. 2007 At 19, Anderson was among the younger set in the Midwest League last year, but he didn`t play like a na?f. Doors can open pretty fast for left-handed hitting catchers, even ones who are still developing their defensive games, as Anderson is. He began the season with an invite to the big league training camp, so he`s a pretty big blip on the Cardinals radar.
