2014-04-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)What's your prediction on a Andrew Heaney earlier than expected call up? Do you see anything fishy going on (see what I did there)?
(dancini from Pgh)
Good transition into answer a Heaney question. You never know what the Marlins are going to do, but even with their aggressive promotions last year, they waited until after the super-two deadline (Jose Fernandez not included, but heís an exception to every rule). Heís going to be in the majors this year, barring injury. Iíll bet heís up before the all-star break. The way heís pitching in Double-A, I wouldnít be surprised to see him bumped to Triple-A within the month then make the jump, though the Marlins arenít afraid of skipping players right over Triple-A. With pitchers in the Pacific Coast League, that wouldnít be the worst idea either.

And for the record, terrible puns are a great way to get your question chosen. (Jeff Moore)
2014-04-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Jeff, Thanks for the chat. Two questions. First, who's getting called up next? Second, who are we not talking about that we should be?
(Number27 from Milwaukee, WI)
I was as surprised as anybody that George Springer got called up when he did, though Iíd guess it means that theyíre closer to a contract extension than either side is letting on. I just donít see the Astros giving up the service time like that for the sake of about one win between now and June in what will be another losing season. Iím thrilled heís up, but it doesnít make much sense.

Because of that, I have no idea whoís next. Some of the most obvious candidates Ė Javy Baez, Byron Buxton, Taijuan Walker, and Addison Russell for example, have battled injuries. There are some more obvious candidates like Marcus Stroman, Andrew Heaney, Gregory Polanco and others, but Iíll bet most teams wait until the super-two deadline has safely passed.

Then again, who saw a Luis Sardinas promotion happening over the weekend? So who knows. (Jeff Moore)
2014-04-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)Do you have more love for Eddie Butler or Andrew Heaney, and what does the future hold for Tyler Skaggs? Separately, can you rank the three in order for me, in terms of impact?
(KJ from PA)
I've come around on Heaney. I wasn't enamored with him coming out of college, but he has really impressed me as a pro. The fastball velocity has been more consistent toward his upper range, and I think he's made some excellent strides in terms of sequencing and his overall approach on the mound. I'm buying Heaney as a really good MLB starter. I like Butler as well, but given their proximity in terms of overall ceiling, give me the lefty.

As for Skaggs, I wish I knew what the future held there; I'd be a wealthy man if I could predict things like that. I'm still buying the raw talent, but even if things come together, I think he ends up more of a 3/4 starter than anything else. (Mark Anderson)
2014-03-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Andrew Heaney lands #2 slot for Miami before the all Star break?
(Dragonbreath from Gurnee, IL.)
I would be very surprised by that. I'd put my chips on Eovaldi or even Turner locking that down before Heaney. (Harry Pavlidis)
2014-03-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Are you buying Andrew Heaney's hype?
(Michael from GA)
Yep, sure am. And with it being the Marlins, he should be up by mid-summer. (Jeff Moore)
2014-01-29 19:00:00 (link to chat)Where do Tyler Glasnow and Andrew Heaney fall in your projections for Starting Pitchers? Potential 1/2s? How far out?
(Chris from Wilmington, North Carolina)
No. 3 types with No. 2 seasons in their primes. They're both right around 40-50 on my top-100. (Ben Carsley)
2014-02-10 13:00:00 (link to chat)Keeper league draft where I need OF/P since I already have 2 MiLB top 10 infielders. Guys available in the range I'll draft: Marcus Stroman, Andrew Heaney, Alex Meyer, Clint Frazier, Joc Pedersen. Anyone jump out at you?
(RWarriors13 from Illinois)
My man-crush on Marcus Stroman has been pretty well documented. I'm driving the Stroman-as-a-Starter bus. (Jeff Moore)
2014-01-21 18:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Mike, If you were looking to add to your rotation and hold the rights to some young players who would you count on from this short list. Tyler Thornburg, Eric Johnson (whats the upside on Eric) Eddie Butler, Andrew Heaney?
(Jim from Tampa)
Hi Jim:

I don't know if you can really count on prospect pitchers, so that makes this a tough question to answer. I like Heaney better than Butler just because of the park difference (though I think Butler can play with that sinker). Of the four, I like Thornburg best. Johnson's upside for me is as a mid-tier rotation guy, although I could also see him not quite getting there. (Mike Gianella)
2014-01-06 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Jeff - A lot of pitching prospects have been throw around in this chat. Curious where Kyle Zimmer ranks; thinking in terms of tiers, who is his peer set - the guys you would cluster around him? What is his ceiling like down the road?
(aaronayoung from Washington, DC)
He's in the Jameson Taillon, Andrew Heaney, Aaron Sanchez, Alex Meyer class. It's a good spot to be in. (Jeff Moore)
2014-01-10 13:00:00 (link to chat)Andrew Heaney had a nice season...can he be a legit #2 behind Fernandez as soon as this summer?
(Tuco from STL)
He's more of a #3 caliber starter, but he should fit nicely behind Fernandez. (Mark Anderson)
2013-11-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Andrew Heaney? Good season and dominant AFL performance. What are your expectations for him? Thanks.
(Jim H from Sphinx Park, CO)
Heaney has exceeded the expectations I had for him entering the draft in 2012. I thought he was getting a little oversold coming out of college, but he's shown more consistent velocity and his entire arsenal is more crisp than I had seen in college. I think he's a solid mid-rotation starter in the making, rather than the back-end type I originally had him pegged for. (Mark Anderson)
2013-08-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Andrew Heaney and what he can become ?
(William from Pensacola, FL)
The stuff has really ticked up this year, and he looks more than legit as the no. 9 overall pick in last year's draft as of right now. He's flown a bit under the radar this year but it's absolutely a guy to be excited about. (Jason Cole)
2013-07-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)What kind of ceiling do you think Andrew Heaney has?
(Jim from Portland)
Number three is possible. Love the profile. (Jason Parks)
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Parks, who are some of your favourite non-top 101 potential risers? (Guys who weren't on the 101 but very well could be, and maybe highly rated, by midseason)
(froston from Peterborough, ON)
Miguel Almonte, Alberto Tirado, Matt Wisler, Andrew Heaney, Rafael DePaula, Joey Gallo, Owens, Snell, Seager (Jason Parks)
2013-02-25 11:00:00 (link to chat)Andrew Heaney lacking the upside for you or are you not so sure he is a sure thing to even reach that back of the rotation level that many see him very likely reaching.
(hknova from Hong Kong)
He was in the running for the list. I like him. (Jason Parks on the Top 101 Prospects)
2013-01-31 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Mr.Levine,can you put thes guys in order??Jose Fernandez...Salvador Perez...Albert Almora..Jorge Solar...Kyle Zimmer...Noah Syndergaaud...Allen Webster...Alen Hanson...Gregory Palanco..Aaron Sanchez...Andrew Heaney...Kevin Gausman..Addison Russell....Kyle Crick...Sean Manaea...Clint Frazier...Ryne Stanek... Thanks John
(John from Boston)
I sort of feel like this is a riddle to see if I can figure out what this list even is. What is this list? I'll go with Salvador (Sal(vy)) Perez and then the rest just for the present. (Zachary Levine)
2013-01-29 14:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Dan,can you put these guys in order.....Jose Fernandez,Albert Almora,Solar,Zimmer,Syndergaard,Hedges,Andrew Heaney,Salvador Perez,Allen Webster,Aaron Sanchez and Dan Straily....thanks
(John from Boston)
Hey, John.

Sheesh, that's a lot of names. From a fantasy standpoint, and based on what I've read, I'd probably want to own Fernandez and Sanchez. I'm probably not qualified to put the others in order, so I'd suggest asking a member of our prospect team. (Daniel Rathman)
