DateQuestionAnswer
2014-07-22 15:00:00 (link to chat)What are the ceilings for Yankees minor league players Mason Williams and Dante Bichette Jr?
(BYoung from FL)
Each are likely 4th OFs, for different reasons. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-04-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)How much do you believe in Mason Williams? Can he make the show in 2014?
(Dwayne from Miami)
I've never been enamored with Williams. He's a really good athlete that can play a premium position, but I just don't see the offensive game supporting the other side of the profile. He's more of a fringe guy or fourth outfielder for me. (Mark Anderson)
2014-02-26 19:00:00 (link to chat)In a dynasty league, who do you think is the better player to keep of the two. Delino DeShields or Mason Williams? Now that Delino has moved to CF, I don't think Williams is necessary to keep.
(Frank from Minnesota)
DeShields but he's got his issues too. The issue with me RE: Mason is how little the rest of his game has developed. He might be a better player in real life. (Mauricio Rubio)
2013-09-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Without considering injured players, most disappointing top prospect this year ?
(19braves77 from Pensacola, FL)
I could list several that failed to live up to the hype, but I was disappointed in Mason Williams. He was most certainly overvalued by many in the industry coming into the season, but I didn't receive one positive report on Williams the entire season. Not one. Scouts that adored his game soured on him quicker than I anticipated, and it wasn't just his production that turned them off. (Jason Parks)
2013-07-29 11:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for answering so many questions today! With his recent hot streak, has Mason William's stock bounced back? As you say in MLU, he has the tools.
(Tristan from Smithstown)
Mason Williams has tools, I just wonder if he has the makeup to utilize these tools effectively. Williams needs to show consistent production for the rest of the season to fully restore his prospect status. (Zach Mortimer)
2013-07-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Will we see Mason Williams with the big club next year?
(Alex from Anaheim)
Only if we are calling the Double-A club the Big Club (Jason Parks)
2013-06-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Which of these Yankee OF prospects, Slade Heathcott, Mason Williams or Tyler Austin, do you feel will have the best major league career?
(TheDonCharleone from North Carolina)
Austin. Better bat. (Jason Parks on the Midseason Top 50 Prospects)
2013-04-16 20:00:00 (link to chat)Any chance the Yankees can trade for Stanton or is that a wet dream denied where the alarm goes off before you get to pork the hot chick?
(Jquinton82 from NY)
The problem with the Yankees farm system is that unless someone takes a huge step forward, they don't have that anchor for a deal. Maybe it can be Gary Sanchez or Mason Williams, but someone would have to really step up to be a superstar-level centerpiece. It's possible though. (Bret Sayre)
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat)After seeing Gumbs in person roughly a dozen times last season, I walked away as impressed with him as most anyone else on what was a fairly stacked Charleston team. I was mostly impressed with his quick trigger at the plate and ridiculous bat speed, and his #want in the field was obvious. Could he find himself in the same class as Mason Williams et al after this season? Or on the fringes of next year's top 101?
(Domenic from New York)
I've always been higher on Gumbs than Williams, although I understand and appreciate that Williams is the more advanced prospect at present. Gumbs has legit bat speed, and he's a plus athlete. I'm not sure he's a great fit at 2B; I always wanted to see him put in CF. But he can swing the bat and make things happen with his legs. His approach is very aggressive, and he needs to command his game better to get the most out of his tools. At the end of the day, I think Gumbs develops into the better ML player, but that's probably a minority opinion. I'm a bat speed junkie. (Jason Parks)
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Mason Williams ? Will he actually be a product if the Yankees farm system and contribute eventually or just another trade chip?
(James from New Jersey)
I think he ends up roaming CF for the Yankees. They need a new #Bernie and Mason Williams might end up being #Bernie-lite. (Jason Parks)
2013-02-25 11:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat, Jason. Byron Buxton, Bubba Starling, Mason Williams and Jackie Bradley, Who has loudest tools? Who can be superstar?
(Mason Williams from New York)
Buxton, Starling, Williams, and Bradley, but Bradley is safer bet to be impact player and Buxton has the highest ceiling. (Jason Parks on the Top 101 Prospects)
2013-02-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)I saw a list where Mason Williams is a top 35 prospect, is he that high on your list?
(Mike from Utica, NY)
He's not (Jason Parks)
2012-12-19 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who will be the better pro, Dante Bichette or Mason Williams?
(Alex from Anaheim)
I've had a chance to see both players and will go with Mason Williams. I like him a lot more. He made some strides from when I saw him in the New York-Penn League to this year in the Sally League. There was some physical progression and more drive behind the ball. Throw in his defensive profile and I see the potential for an average-to-better regular. (Chris Mellen)
2012-09-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)What kind of player is Mason Williams at his peak, and what might his time table be? Love the low K-rate and the power looks solid enough.
(Tony from OKC)
Role 5 player for me, which is a hell of a player. If you can start at a premium position at the highest level in the game, you are a stud. He's not a star for me, although some see a ceiling as a first-division/fringe-all-star type. I'm not that high on him, but suggesting he will be a quality major leaguer is still high praise. (Jason Parks)
2012-04-19 14:00:00 (link to chat)Can you name a few CF prospects other than Trout that I should keep an eye on?
(sitdancer from DC)
As a Giants fan, I'm certainly excited about what Gary Brown can bring. Hoping to see him at the top of the lineup by the middle of the 2013 season.

The Yankees' Mason Williams is another one of my favorites. Kevin Goldstein had him fourth in the system coming into the year, and all he's done is bat .315 and steal six bases in 12 games in Low-A since then. (Daniel Rathman)
2012-02-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)I know it's difficult to predict how a young players body will develop, but do you see Mason Williams growing into some power as he fills out?
(steve from CA)
I don't. He's very good, but not a very physical player. (Kevin Goldstein)
2012-02-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)What do you mean by a "physical player?"
(mdthomp from USA)
Mason Williams is six-foot tall, very skinny and has a slim frame. There is not much physical projection in him. (Kevin Goldstein)
