2014-08-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Better bet for next year, Brandon Belt or Eric Hosmer?
(Dave from Des Moines)
I prefer Belt. Injuries are mostly what kept Belt back this year, whereas Hosmer's lack of power really makes me wonder if 15 home runs is his sad ceiling. (Mike Gianella)
2014-08-19 14:00:00 (link to chat)No a real prospect question, but what is the common causes of failure of struggles of top prospects at the major league level? Listening to old Up and In episodes, I see a guy like Eric Hosmer who flashed his 6-7 ceiling last year, but looked replacement level too. Or a guy like Jesus Montero that should have had the bat to carry him at 1st or DH, but is now the butt of a joke. Especially because these players had exceptional and developed hit tools and "hitters hit"
(Matt from Cambridge )
The ability not to make adjustments. That is what this game is based on. Some players do, some players don't. (CJ Wittmann)
2014-07-08 13:00:00 (link to chat)Why do we see so little scouting stuff on players in the major leagues? It would sure be nice to hear from scouts on why Eric Hosmer has been awful or why Garrett Richards has finally become the guy we thought he was. But I feel like scouts stop caring about guys once they make it yo the majors
(Dylan from Boston)
It is not so much that scouts stop caring, but rather they have a different role once players get to the Major Leagues. Advance scouting is a completely different animal from minor league scouting. With advance scouting you're looking for the tendancies, holes and ways to exploit opposing players. It wouldn't be very beneficial to the organizations to broadcast that type of information, and while media types that talk to advance scouts may have this information, it is not as readily or easily shared. The different motives of the two scouting circles drives information disemination more than a lack of caring. (Mark Anderson)
2014-05-15 20:00:00 (link to chat)Bret- rounding the quarter pole here who are some of your buy low targets or guys who have started pretty slow that you fully expect to rebound? Thanks
(DanDaMan from Sea Cliff)
I have a trio of first basemen that I'm targeting, who have had various levels of struggles this year. Eric Hosmer has been hitting for average, but I still believe the power is coming--maybe his owner is losing faith. Prince Fielder has been in a funk, but I don't think he's done. And Allen Craig is too good of a hitter to continue like this, as long as he's healthy. (Bret Sayre)
2014-05-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Are organizations like BAL, ARI just bad at developing pitching prospects like how KC is bad with hitting prospects? Or is it just bad luck with bust prospects?
(norwun from NYC)
In general, I would say that most of those sorts of reputations are vastly overblown. There is a ton of luck involved and sometimes you hit a bad stretch for a long period of time. Sometimes organizations have strange philosophies that make you scratch your head - like Baltimore's refusal to let any of their pitchers throw a cutter but drafting of a pitcher whose best pitch is a cutter (Bundy), but I don't think that's why Bundy got hurt. There's just bad luck involved.

Some reputations are just flat out wrong, too. KC has developed Alex Gordon, Eric Hosmer, Billy Butler, and Sal Perez, and they even get credit for Wil Myers. Just because Mike Moustakas stinks doesn't mean they can't develop hitters. (Jeff Moore)
2014-05-02 14:00:00 (link to chat)Eric Hosmer: what's with all the ground balls? Is it similar to what you were saying earlier about Billy Butler or something completely different?
(JohnnyFive from Seattle)
It's actually very similar, in that pitchers have been giving Hosmer a fatter diet of sinkers and change-ups down and under the zone so far this season. Hosmer has had groundball tendencies in the past, so his situation probably has more to do with his approach at the plate an what he is looking to elevate, but pitchers are doing a better job of forcing the issue.

2014-04-22 20:00:00 (link to chat)I recently traded Chris Sales & Chris Owings for Eric Hosmer & A. Simmons. Did I overpay?
(jtwalsh from Northport, NY)
Well, before Sale got hurt it was closer, but we would have taken Hosmer and Simmons all along. Also, props on mastering the dark arts and injuring Chris Sale--as if White Sox fans could get more depressed. (Scoresheet Chat with Ben, Jared, and Ian)
2014-04-01 13:00:00 (link to chat)Does Eric Hosmer still make you happy?
(SenatorsGuy from Minnesota)
Absolutely. I never left his side. (Jason Parks)
2014-03-19 20:00:00 (link to chat)Can Eric Hosmer be a top 20 player in the next 2-4 years?
(Dservi4 from Maryland)
He could be a top-20 player THIS year. I'm not projecting it, but there's certainly a route to it that's not difficult to imagine. (Bret Sayre)
2014-02-03 13:00:00 (link to chat)Does Eric Hosmer build from his 2h last year and parlay it into a real fantasy breakout in '14? Thoughts on HR/Avg.?
(Jason from Miami)
I'm a firm believer in Hosmer for next year. I think .290 and 20-25 is well within range. (Mauricio Rubio)
2014-01-21 18:00:00 (link to chat)Keeper league, trying to consolidate; Hosmer and Cole for Goldschmidt, is that an overpay? Thanks!
(Cansy from YYZ)
Hi Cansy

I think it's a bit of an overpay. Paul Goldschmidt is great, but both Eric Hosmer and Gerrit Cole have growth potential, particularly Cole. I don't know if Cole's going to be an ace this year, but he WILL be an ace at some point and in a keeper that seems like too much ceiling to give up for Goldy, even though he's obviously great. Push back a little bit on the pitcher and see what you can give up besides Cole. (Mike Gianella)
2014-01-21 18:00:00 (link to chat)Mike, thanks again! Is it possible for Hosmer to to get MVP considerations in the next year or two? AND, is Rizzo the long term 1B solution @ 1B in Chicago?
(Gary from Petaluma, CA.)
It's possible, but Eric Hosmer would have to start putting more power together, especially given his position.

Yes, I think Anthony Rizzo is going to be fine for the Cubs, even if he is never the superstar some thought he might be. (Mike Gianella)
2014-01-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)Why won't you trade me Eric Hosmer?
(MRubio52 from Chicago)
Because I am of sound mind and heart. (Craig Goldstein)
2013-10-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)You and Eric Hosmer are trapped in an elevator for 6 hours. All you have is an acoustic guitar. What album do you play a full acoustic cover of to serenade him?
(Kevin from New York)
This is easy. Thriller by Michael Jackson. Tasty rhythms that create a sensual atmosphere. (Jason Parks)
2013-09-12 18:00:00 (link to chat)Will Johnathan Schoop be the Orioles everyday 2B next year? Do you see him as an eventual top-10 fantasy guy at the position?
(Jim from Baltimore)
Hi Jim

I can't predict whether or not Schoop will be the Orioles 2B next year, but I do think that he'll get an opportunity in camp. Brian Roberts is a free agent, and Alexi Casilla and Ryan Flaherty shouldn't be viewed as road blocks. I suspect the Orioles will bring in a cheap veteran as a back-up plan in Spring Training and let them compete.

Will Jonathan Schoop be a Top 10 guy? That all depends on how his power develops. He probably will eventually be Top 10, but given his age and the minor league numbers he has put up to date, I don't see this happening until 2017-2018. These players play different positions, but I think you have to look at players like Brett Lawrie and Eric Hosmer as examples. Everyone got too enthusiastic about Lawrie/Hosmer and got burned the last couple of years. That doesn't mean these players aren't good and won't get better, but it's a long learning curve, particularly if you're not a made-to-order superstar like Mike Trout or Schoop's teammate, Manny Machado. (Mike Gianella)
2013-06-11 14:00:00 (link to chat)Of the following young~ish hitters, who's the best bet for long term success? Ike Davis, Eric Hosmer, Chris Carter, Moustakas, Billy Butler...... How many times are you asked about these chumps in a chat?
(Jim Clancy from Exhibition Stadium)
Some of those names—Hosmer and Carter, especially—do pop up pretty often. It's hard for me to bet against Billy Butler, because he's done it before, and beyond that, I'm still on the Eric Hosmer bandwagon. (Daniel Rathman)
2013-06-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on Eric Hosmer? Ever since George Brett was hired on as hitting coach he seems to have turned some things around. Is he making his way back to fantasy relevance? Thanks!
(Greg from The Office)
I would be truly surprised if Brett had anything to do with that ... I know that's not the question, but I have to put that out there. Hosmer is young, the tools are still there. So his ceiling may not be as high as hoped, but there's more power to come as he ages. So, yes, he's making his way back, but don't expect it to be a quantum leap. (Harry Pavlidis)
2013-05-22 18:00:00 (link to chat)What do you think of Eric Hosmer? Can he get dat power back?
(Sissy Cuck from Orlando)
I think he needs to make more faces when he hits and stretches for throws at first. Until he can elevate pitches, he's not going to hit for power. His groundball rate is awful (Jason Collette)
2013-05-22 18:00:00 (link to chat)Are Brandon Belt loyalist finally going to be repaid for their unwaivering faith (pun intended) this season? 20+ HR's and double digit steals likely? If so, counting stat wise, is he not the Eric Hosmer that most people were looking for this season?
(PhilumciousPhil from The Sun)
That's 14 HRs & 8 SB the rest of the way. I'd still take him over Hosmer (Jason Collette)
2013-05-07 13:00:00 (link to chat)Paul- I'm in a 12 team league with just 6 bench spots. Right now I have Eric Hosmer (.258 zero home runs) and Brett Lawrie (batting a wopping .185) taking up 2 spots based on their potential. What point do you cut bait? or would you have already done that?
(DanDaMan from SeaCliff)
I have those jerkstores in an AL only so it's less painful. It really depends who you are replacing them with. I imagine there's more depth at 1B of if he's not your starter, then cut Hos and pick up an upside player off the wire. (Paul Sporer)
2013-05-07 13:00:00 (link to chat)Whither Eric Hosmer?
(Zbigniew from Bala Cynwyd)
Oof, it's starting to seem that way. Too early to give up on him long-term, but this year's prospects are dwindling. (Paul Sporer)
2013-05-10 14:00:00 (link to chat)Can Eric Hosmer pull the ball? I watch him daily and he just seems interested in only hitting the ball to left field???? Case of a young guy sarting to get it and he will start pulling the ball later, or is he what we see???
(brukru from Pittsford)
He might just be that type of hitter, and his approach is not really designed to tap into his power potential. The question is whether he is intentionally letting pitches get deep on him before triggering his swing, a la Joeey Votto, or if Hoz is going the other way because he can't catch up to the stuff throw his way. He appears to have the bat speed to get in front of pitches, but it could come down to pitch recognition. (Doug Thorburn)
2013-04-25 12:30:00 (link to chat)If Keith Law states that Eric Hosmer's hands are still setting up wrong on his swing, then what does this say about the KC coaching staff? Or does it infer that the coaching staff might already have worked to correct that flaw, but Hosmer can't seem to bring it into games?
(dianagram from VORGville)
Well, it could be that Keith is wrong. (Note: I'm not saying Keith is wrong. I like and respect Keith, and I haven't even heard what he said about Hosmer.) But if Keith is right, then yeah, either of those explanations could be the correct one. I wouldn't know without asking someone closer to the situation. (Ben Lindbergh)
2013-04-10 20:00:00 (link to chat)Should I give Kipnis/Burnett for Gyorko/Hosmer?? Thanks! Great Stuff!
(tB from Auburn)
Hi tB.

If you can afford to trade the speed and have a pitcher in reserve to fill in for A.J. Burnett, make the trade. Eric Hosmer is better than Jason Kipnis as a pure talent and while A.J. Burnett might be better than Jedd Gyorko this year, you're getting a much younger player for a player at or near the end of the line. (Mike Gianella)
2013-03-27 20:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks Bret. Please rank in terms of 2013 performance and career? Eric Hosmer, Brandon Belt and Domonic Brown
(Keith from Manchester, CT)
Hosmer, Brown, Belt. Even with the spring he's having, I'm not sold on Belt being any sort of real power threat at the major league level. And I still believe Hosmer will be a stud. (Bret Sayre)
2013-03-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)5x5 10 team keeper league. Lineup is 14 Sticks, 9 Arms, have 4 Bench Spots, no DL. I am keeping Encarnacion at 1B, and have to decide between keeping of the 3: Starlin Castro, Eric Hosmer and Paul Goldschmidt. If I go all 1B, then my 1B, CI and Util are filled before the draft starts. So maybe the question is... Hosmer or Goldy?
(sergeantegnew from NYC)
The question should be Hos or Goldy, I agree. Goldy seems like more of 'sure thing' but I think you could argue Hosmer based on upside. I guess it will come down to the relative cost and if you need production now or in 2-3 years. (Harry Pavlidis)
2013-02-15 12:00:00 (link to chat)I'm really on the fence about Eric Hosmer this year, especially if he's hitting 7th (as predicted on some sites). What do you think?
(Short Shorts from Venice Beach)
He's being drafted as a top 100 player and going ahead of Rizzo right now at 1B. I'd rather have Rizzo (Jason Collette)
2013-02-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks Paul. How high are your expectations for 1B Eric Hosmer and Brandon Belt this year after disappointing 2012?
(Keith from Manchester, CT)
Ooh good names. Hosmer's skills didn't crater so despite the disappointment, I'm still optimistic and prefer him to Belt. Belt was probably better than some realize and I think part of his disappointment were unfair expectations. There's some upside in his bat, but it's probably 18-20 HR as opposed to mid-20s as I think too many expected. (Paul Sporer)
2013-02-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Eric Hosmer. Think he rebounds and is he more '11 or '12 when all is said and done?
(Eddie from KC)
I'm still a big believer in Hosmer. Could be ready for a breakout in '13 or '14. It's going to happen. (Jason Parks)
2013-01-07 13:00:00 (link to chat)Super-Deep Dynasty league with auction draft... $500 budgets for 25 roster spots. If there's one player you want to build you team around (maybe 3-4 players if you're feeling generous!), who are they/is he?
(Steve from Dallas)
If starting from scratch, I'd absolutely love to build around Mike Trout or Bryce Harper, so will everyone else though. I'd probably try to nab a pair of high upside prospects/youngsters who have yet to breakout in the bigs such as Jurickson Profar, Manny Machado, or Gerrit Cole. Buying in on a young player coming off a disappointing year such as Eric Hosmer would also make a lot of sense. (Josh Shepardson)
2012-12-28 13:00:00 (link to chat)Fantasy Question, if you don't mind...who do you like better in a dynasty league: Eric Hosmer or Anthony Rizzo?
(Mr Indecisive from Parts Unknown)
I don't mind at all. Hosmer's 2012 still confounds me. Based on their previous track records, he should have a higher upside than Rizzo, but it's hard to argue with what the latter did for the Cubs last year. He's in a great park that should maximize his strengths. I'll go with Rizzo, but it's not a terribly strong feeling. (Geoff Young)
2012-12-28 13:00:00 (link to chat)Expecting a big bounce back year from Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer? Thanks for the chat!
(Bill from Kansas City)
I remain hopeful that they are experiencing the usual growing pains. Both of those guys are incredibly young. Of course, I'm still waiting for Ruben Rivera and Sean Burroughs. Any moment now, I can feel it. (Geoff Young)
2012-12-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who is the best pitcher in the Majors who is not a pitcher? I wonder this whenever I hear a position player has a ++ arm.
(Hightower from Dallas)
Eric Hosmer could be a beast on the mound, as could Anthony Gose. (Jason Parks)
2012-12-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat Ian. What kind of numbers do you expect from Eric Hosmer next year? Thanks!
(Carl from LA)
Hey Carl. Hosmer is kind of confounding to me. I was probably irrationally exuberant on him when he came up in '11, and the league adjusted to him in '12. I still think he's an elite player, so I expect to adjust to the adjustments next year.

Maybe he hits .270/.320/.460? Does that seem reasonable? (Ian Miller)
2012-11-15 14:00:00 (link to chat)What do you expect from Eric Hosmer in 2013?
(baseballjunkie from Cali)
Hosmer is supremely talented and the kind of guy for which the light switch could just flip and he becomes a stud. That's absolutely a possibility, but obviously not something you should be banking on or paying for in a fantasy league. Expect improvement on 2012 for sure, just temper expectations. (Derek Carty)
2012-10-01 13:00:00 (link to chat)I have Eric Hosmer is a keeper league and he was a huge disappointment for me in 2012. Do you suggest that I keep him or should I discard him and try to find a better guy for next year? He was just horrible this year, not even an average contributor at his position and cost him from finishing second place in my league.
(Seth from Omaha, NE)
As disappointing as the year was, it happens sometimes in a players development. I'm still a big fan of Hosmer, and the future should be quite bright. It's easy to lose sight of the fact he's 22 years old, and most players don't find instant star level success. I would imagine that if you pass on keeping him, someone else will take the gamble on him figuring things out next year, and I probably wouldn't risk that. (Josh Shepardson)
2012-08-23 13:00:00 (link to chat)Clearly Eric Hosmer is having a rotten second year, but I haven't heard too many scouting assessments as to why. What do YOU think?
(geo from lunch)
I think his swing mechanics have been inconsistent. I've noticed him look hitchy in his load and leaking before the swing. He hasn't been as easy and quick to the ball, and as a result he has been susceptible to quality velo inside and good off-speed stuff. It could be a number of factors, but his mechanical profile hasn't been consistent enough to stay in rhythm and stay on balls. I think he will be fine. It's quite common for sophomores to tinker with their swings in the name of adjustment. (Jason Parks)
2012-06-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)What do you make of Eric Hosmer's struggles this year? Just a blip on the radar or cause for concern?
(Jason from Omaha)
Adjustments. It happens. Baseball is a game of minor adjustments, small battles played out against one opponent at a time. Pitchers found a way to get him out. Now Hosmer will need to find a way to adjust. (Jason Parks)
2012-05-07 13:00:00 (link to chat)What triple slash line does Eric Hosmer finish the year with?
(steve from Lincoln)
Hm. Hosmer is at .185/.261/.370 now, hit .293/.334/.465 last season, and has a PECOTA projection that calls for .285/.337/.446. Assuming he starts hitting now, that PECOTA projection might not be too far off. (R.J. Anderson)
2012-05-09 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Ben, what are your thoughts on Eric Hosmer and his chances of turning it around this year? Thanks
(DanDaMan from SeaCliff)
Thoughts: Eric Hosmer is going to be a beast. Chances of turning it around this year: very good. He's showing just as much power as he showed last season, and even more patience. Eric Hosmer is not going to have a .168 BABIP all season. He'll be fine. And not long after he's fine, he'll be a star. (Ben Lindbergh)
2012-04-12 14:00:00 (link to chat)I own Cespedes in my league and received a trade offer. Offer is for Corey Hart and Eric Hosmer. I figure that yes I should take this deal, but Cespedes could be someone who could win me the league if he can walk like he has been the past two games. Thoughts?
(SpaceJohnson from Costa Rica)
You get both for Cespedes? In a 5x5 league? Yeah, take it and don't look back. (Derek Carty)
2012-03-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Speaking of bets, I took the over on Eric Hosmer 26 homers this year. A case of beer is riding on this.
(kbdekker from Saint Paul)
I think it's going to be close. (Kevin Goldstein)
2012-04-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Eric Hosmer over/under 26 homers this year? I've got a case of Schell's Firebrick Ale riding on it.
(Kyle Dekker from Saint Paul)
25 homers in 2012; 30+ homers in 2013 (Jason Parks)
2012-04-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Jason, Ignoring contract, if you were running a team, would you rather have 32 year old Albert Pujols or 22 year old Eric Hosmer? In what year do you think Hosmer will become better than Pujols?
(poldytow from Boston, MA)
Contract aside, I'd prefer to have Pujols for the next two or three seasons, and then Hosmer every year after that. If I were running a team and had to build around a player, I'd go Hosmer. He will challenge for an MVP before he leaves Kansas City (Jason Parks)
2012-02-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who do you think is going to have a better big league future: The monster that is Mike Stanton, or Eric Hosmer?
(yankeesbg13 from Indianapolis)
Stanton, because of the defensive value, the 80 power, and proven production in an offensively barren environment at a younger age. (Jay Jaffe)
2012-02-02 15:00:00 (link to chat)Let's say I miss out on all of my 2B and 3B targets in my draft -- any late round saving graces come to mind?
(Joseph from Richmond)
I'm still a big Jose Altuve fan. He struggled in his cup of coffee last year but he's still very young and has hit -- and I mean HIT -- everywhere, even when factoring in the favorable offensive environments in which he's played. I have every confidence he can be a ~.300 hitter and provide a useful amount of steals and runs this year. At 3B, see how low Moustakas goes... don't forget, it was just a year ago that he was considered the an equel -- or perhaps superior -- prospect to Eric Hosmer. Chase Headley is going very late in mock drafts too, but has solid value. (Cory Schwartz)
2012-01-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)What young player(s) on the Royals are you most excited about?
(Lucas Apostoleris from Massachusetts)
Eric Hosmer, Alex Gordon (does he still count?), Greg Holland. I'm curious to see if Lorenzo Cain is the real deal. Now that the Royals have some legitimate hitting stars on the corners again, I'd really like to see them solidify the middle of the defense with players who can contribute on both sides of the ball. Obviously the Royals aren't going to have every position filled with a star, but if Cain can be a solid regular in the field and in the lineup, that helps a lot. (Mike Fast)
2011-10-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Since he was so conveniently available and you weren't, I dogged Steven in his last chat about something you said on MLB Round Trip a month or so ago. Now it's your turn! In a discussion of the Angels calling up Mike Trout you said "the smart teams are the ones that don't have timetables." But three months earlier on this very website you chastised the Royals for bringing up Eric Hosmer, even though they also ignored timetables, because it was going to cost them too much money. So which is it? Should you really have said "smart teams ignore timetables, but only if everybody thinks they can afford it; otherwise they're dumb."
(Chris from lunch break)
Smart teams ignore timetables when they're lined up to compete for a playoff spot. That wasn't the case in KC, but in retrospect, I was wrong about Hosmer. (Kevin Goldstein)
2011-09-06 14:00:00 (link to chat)Last night on MLB Roundtrip, there was a discussion about Mike Trout. I believe it was Kevin who said "the smart teams are the ones that have no timetable," for calling up their prospects. Yet he wrote an article on this very website calling the Royals to task for bringing up Eric Hosmer in May when he was clearly ready. Now, I know that was Kevin, but your thoughts? Should Kevin actually have said "the smart teams are the ones with no timetable, as long as they have the money to ignore service time implications"?
(Chris from Windy City)
I can't claim to read Kevin's mind (and good that I can't--I hear it's scary in there!) but he did say both. I think you can reconcile those statements, but not quite the way you did. I think the general rule he posited is the correct one, but the Royals are a special situation, a team that needs to pull together all strands of its grand plan at once for it to work, because Hosmer isn't going to change anything for them by himself, but the whole class just might. What's more, because they're the Royals, we don't know how long they will be willing/able to keep the group together. So if Hosmer laps the group in arb eligibility or something, maybe the plan starts to come apart before they even start. You should ask him, either here at his next chat, on the podcast, or on our Sunday night radio show, where I'll be there to comment as well. (Steven Goldman)
2011-05-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)Injuries are plaguing my team at the moment. - Joe Mauer - Pablo Sandoval - Andrew Bailey - And now Ike Davis Which first baseman do you think will have the most value in the short term? - Brett Wallace (who I picked up and can quickly drop) - Mitch Moreland - Eric Hosmer
(HonusCobb from Hopedale, IL)
I'll jump on the Eric Hosmer bandwagon here. He's made a pretty smooth transition to the major leagues and is also showing power. I like Wallace a lot, too, but he plays on a bad team, which cuts down on his RBI opportunities. (John Perrotto)
2011-05-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hey John, in my 6x6 roto league, my starting pitchers are Haren, Hanson, Hudson, Colby Lewis, Scott Baker, Morrow, Matusz, Ogando, and Drabek. I could use an additional bat and was offered Eric Hosmer for Brandon Morrow, you think I should take it?
(SnakeDoctor18 from NY)
Indeed, I'd make that trade. I like Morrow but Hosmer is in a class above him. Go make that trade right now before the other guy read this. (John Perrotto)
2010-11-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)Why would the Royals be interested in Chris Davis? They have a logjam at first base / DH as it is, Eric Hosmer is waiting in the wings, and third base will belong to Mike Moustakas starting some time in 2011.
(chris from MN)
They wouldn't be. I used them to illustrate how there aren't going to be many takers for Davis, and even then, a usual suspect in similar situations like the Royals wouldn't give anything up to get him. Then again -- why do the Royals do anything they do? (Eric Seidman)
2010-04-08 14:00:00 (link to chat)Did Lars Anderson and Eric Hosmer show any cause for optimism this spring training? Signs that they're figuring things out?
(mikemcduffe from ottawa)
I actually got some nice reviews on both of them for what it's worth. It's way to early to totally give up on either. (Kevin Goldstein)
2009-12-11 13:00:00 (link to chat)KG, Who do you like more to bounce back next year, Lars Anderson or Eric Hosmer?
(Sacha from Scapa Flow)
I love this question, just because I stared it for at least a minute while trying to come up with an answer. I give Anderson a SLIGHT edge, but only because he's at least had some past pro success. (Kevin Goldstein)
2009-05-28 14:00:00 (link to chat)You've seen Eric Hosmer live... does he appear athletic enough to handle an outfield corner?
(BL from Bozeman)
Right now? maybe. Four years from now? Different story. (Kevin Goldstein)
