2011-06-20 14:00:00	Philip Humber, 9th in WAR for AL pitchers ... uhm ... please explain. (Paul from DC)	He doesn't miss a ton of bats but his homer and walk rates are impressively low, and his .226 BABIP is insanely low (and unsustainable). Bet on some significant regression. That said, Humber's working with one of the game's best pitching coaches in Don Cooper, so I don't think that he's incapable of surviving as a back-end starter. He's going to need to get more groundballs though, particularly in that ballpark. (Jay Jaffe)
2011-05-26 13:00:00	Is Philip Humber for real? He was a hot prospect for the Mets and ended up in Minnesota for Johan Santana. He never distinguished himself in the minors, but he's off to a great start with the White Sox. Can he sustain this level of performance? (tlowell5 from Alaska)	He has looked better than expected (someone in the annual threw out a Kyle Davies comp), but I'm not sold that he'll continue to have a .210 BABIP. Once that moves up, the ERA probably will too. (R.J. Anderson)

2009-02-16 14:00:00	So, between being a Twins fan and not really paying close attention to college baseball, I never saw the Philip Humber that was picked #3 overall in 2004. Can you spin me a yarn? (Minneapolitan from Chicago)	A long time ago, in a magical land called, "Texas" there was a school called "Rice." And there were three little (ok, actually big) pitchers there who maybe have been that best threesome on a single team in the history of college baseball. One was Humber, one was Wade Townsend, and one was Jeff Niemann. But Rice wasn't kind to these players, working them night and day and far too much, so that when they went pro they all got hurt, and none of them lived up to their potential, and nobody lived happily ever after.
