DateQuestionAnswer
2014-10-09 15:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for chatting with us, Jordan, Lewis Thorpe: what do you hear about his stuff? Did it take a step backwards this season?
(Ted from Williamsburg)
I don't think the stuff took a step backward. He's got aptitude and even though the command needs to take a couple steps forward, he has pretty big time upside.

Okay, a couple more questions and I'm going to get going. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-09-03 14:00:00 (link to chat)Hey, Jordan. Thanks for answering our questions. Lewis Thorpe, what is his ceiling and how likely is he to reach it?
(CyMature from Cooperstown Retirement Home)
His ceiling is that of a #2/#3 starter. The velocity is easy and the arm is loose. He's got good feel for secondaries, but the command is still a long ways away. He's still ridiculously young, but has all of the ingredients to be a successful big league starter. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-06-05 14:00:00 (link to chat)Where would Lewis Thorpe go if he were draft eligible?
(Ian from OK)
Tough to answer since we have pro track record to look at. Seems like a first round fit. (Draft Day Chat with Nick J. Faleris)
2014-06-03 14:00:00 (link to chat)Lewis Thorpe just got promoted to Low-A. What are your thoughts here? Is this too aggressive of a move?
(ahs430 from Anaheim, CA)
He was in extended spring training until just now. No, it isn't "too aggressive". This is the Twins we are talking about. (Ron Shah)
2014-04-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)Paul, Daniel Winkler and Ben Lively have carried over last years success into this year with incredible early season performances. Are these guys for real and in a dynasty league would you add one or both in place of, Mauricio Cabrera, Jose Martinez or Lewis Thorpe?
(Rup from DC)
I'd prefer them to the three others. I don't know that either is a star, but both are raising their stock (Paul Sporer)
2014-04-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Could you give 3 prospects right now that you think will make it to top 100 prospects lists by this time next year? Players making big jumps?
(Luis from Nowhere near Brooklyn)
Michael Feliz, J.P. Crawford, and Lewis Thorpe, to name a few. Just guessing. (Jeff Moore)
2014-04-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)What are your long term thoughts on a couple short season arms, Jefry Rodriguez and Lewis Thorpe. Anything to get really excited about?
(tjco1006 from Baseball Nirvana)
I think people should be very excited about Thorpe. When he signed out of Australia, I had some really intriguing reports, but there were some steps required for him to approach those projections. He's made those steps and then some, with the velocity ticking up better than initially projected. Twins fans should be really excited about his potential.

I'm really intrigued by Rodriguez as well. I saw him once last year and there's a lot to dream on. He's going to take more time and move a lot slower than someone like Thorpe, in my opinion, but the payoff could be substantial. (Mark Anderson)
2014-04-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)Have you seen Alex Reyez yet? if so, what are your initial impressions. Also, all these guys are far away but what do you know about Lewis Thorpe and Devin Williams?
(Brian from Mass)
Haven't seen Reyes yet, though everything I keep hearing from scouts is extremely impressive. Touched on Thorpe in a prior answer, and let's just say I really like him. Williams is probably the most raw of the trio, but he has the physical characteristics I like and there's plenty to like if he can add strength and begin to gain some feel. (Mark Anderson)
2014-04-03 19:30:00 (link to chat)Hello, good sir! Would you be so kind as to rank the following high upside arms? Jose Martinez, Adalberto Mejia, Lewis Thorpe, Alberto Tirado.
(Gravybill from New York, NY)
My order of preference: Tirado, Martinez, Mejia, Thorpe but all have pluses and minuses. (Craig Goldstein)
2014-03-19 20:00:00 (link to chat)in a deep dynasty any pitching prospects with high ceilings and arent close to the majors? need some names for late
(tno1986 from nyc)
Lewis Thorpe, Alexander Reyes, Jose Martinez, Alberto Tirado. (Bret Sayre)
2014-03-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Lewis Thorpe. How are scouts raving about him already when he is so far away? Also, with him being so young and from Australia, has he even faced any competition to predict his ceiling?
(Silverback38 from VA)
Scouts can rave at any time if they've seen him in person. Predicting his ETA is a bit futile (believe me, I've tried) because he's so far away, but talent is talent. Even if it's seen in a bullpen next to a kangaroo, you can still see it and rave away. He hasn't faced a ton of high level competition, but he did play in the Australian Winter League this off-season about much older competition. That's something. He'll get off the complex and hit short-season ball this year. (Jeff Moore)
2014-02-26 19:00:00 (link to chat)How would you rank Adalberto Mejia, Nick Kingham, Lewis Thorpe, and Vincent Velazquez?
(Victor from Dumfries)
- Kingham, Mejia, Thorpe and Velazquez. I like Kingham's profile. (Mauricio Rubio)
2014-02-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who will be the future ace arms of the twins organization?
(Beaux from La)
It depends on which definition of ace you're using. If we're employing the scouting definition (i.e. one of the best dozen or so starters in baseball) then Kohl Stewart has the most realistic chance of reaching that upside. If we're just talking Guy Who Starts on Opening Day then Alex Meyer (a probable no. 2 or 3 on the scouting scale) is a good bet in the short term. Terry Ryan upgraded his rotation this winter, but it's still mostly no. 4 types.

Lewis Thorpe also deserves a mention, though he was born in 1995 and that makes me uncomfortable. (R.J. Anderson)
2013-12-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Vegas over/under number of number 2 or better starters from this group: Lewis Thorpe, Julio Urias, Hunter Harvey, Edwin Diaz, Alex Reyes, Jesse Hahn, Steven Matz, Adalberto Mejia.
(huggirl from Joisey)
From that group, one pitcher will develop into a number two starter (or better). I was tempted to say 0. (Jason Parks)
2013-11-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who do you prefer out of two young foreign arms in Julio Urias and Lewis Thorpe? Both quick movers or more so the first than the second?
(Big Tex from San Antoine)
Urias. Even more advanced. (Jason Parks)
