BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2014 Due to publishing agreements, the 2014 player comments and team essays are only available in the Baseball Prospectus 2014 book (available in hardcopy, e-book, and Kindle).
2013 A University of Florida reliever chosen with the 82nd pick (second round) of the 2012 draft, Rodriguez (nicknamed Paco) signed for slot value ($610,800), and after dominating in brief stops at two levels became the first member of his draft class to reach the majors. Unfazed by the heat of the playoff race, he fared reasonably well in September as the bullpen's second lefty, allowing just one out of 12 inherited runners to score. Rodriguez has a deceptive delivery, good command, and enough stuff that he should escape the LOOGY typecasting, with closing and starting both possibilities. His 2013 destination may hinge on who else the Dodgers bring in as a lefty reliever; it wouldn't be a surprise if he breaks camp with the big club—or winds up back in Chattanooga.

2014-06-05 14:00:00 (link to chat)Do you see any players that could play in the majors now? Similar to Paco Rodriguez?
(Frank from KC)
Nick Burdi, depending on how many more innings he logs. Brandon Finnegan, if right, could add value now. Nick Howard has the stuff for it. Lindgren. Nola, if they wanted to push him.

Most likely would be Burdi/Howard/Lindgren/Finnegan, all depending on where they go. (Draft Day Chat with Nick J. Faleris)
