I want to listen to 45 minutes of Sam and Ben dissecting the wording people use for their tweets and other English language nuance.

"It's rEveal; it's revelatory -- this word can't decide what it is."

This is actually a rule of pronunciation. Initial long vowels become shortened when suffixes are added.

Reveal --> revelatory
Nation --> national
Vain --> vanity
Wise --> wisdom

In England you still hear it in Private --> privacy, but we in the States have strayed from that one.
