dig it, man. good article. thanks.
on another note, this juiced baseball is definitely adding excitement, but it's actually making the game a little silly for my taste. right when the pitchers are regaining some dignity, MLB "tightens the strings" on them. I love baseball any which way and as a dodger fan, I'm having a ball!!!
i think there is a lot of interesting stuff you wrote here. good article! I think there's truth to this, but i also think the ball is juiced. There are a few things I've observed as a baseball fan - By watching games. I watch a ton of baseball. I love watching it. The ball is shooting off of bats like I haven't seen since the steriod era. And not just hard swings. Guys are hitting line drives that look like doubles in the gaps that are landing in the seats like laser beams. Small guys are hitting 450 foot bombs. And here is a a really interesting part. Guys are hitting WAY more homers per <span class="statdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/glossary/index.php?search=AB" onmouseover="doTooltip(event, jpfl_getStat('AB'))" onmouseout="hideTip()">AB</span></a> in the majors than they were in the minors. Not just <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=70917">Trea Turner</a></span> and Lindor and Sanchez... pretty much everybody. i don't think they are just starting to swing hard once they get called up. The ball at the Major league level is like a golf ball. Souza got completely fooled on a slider the other day, threw his bat-head at it as it almost hit the dirt on the OUTSIDE of the plate, and PULLED it into the left field seats. LINDOR hit a ball 452 feet - explain that?! Lindor!! D'arnaud 449 - <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=31602">Jeff Mathis</a></span> 448. Something beyond a new hitting strategy is at work here. MLB is trying to get the younger generation into the game. Plain and simple. That's my opinion ,but i still loved the article!
Chase is a huge part of this team - Not quantified by metrics. yes, He has pretty horrible range these days but he made at least 10 plays last year that no mortal could make. He plays the game without self boasting flash. Bryce would call him square, but you'll never see chase make a mental error, stand and admire a homer, jog when he should run, or let someone turn an easy double play (ha). As a Dodger fan, the old man chase is still one of my favorite players. ........ also, I wouldn't be surprised if Chase turned down a little extra dough to stay put.
Thanks wilson!! Deep dynasy league minor league draft. top 3 of :
Yuli, Diaz, <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/player_search.php?search_name=Juan+Soto">Juan Soto</a></span>, Basabe, Yuni Gurriel (32yrs), <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=102574">Hunter Dozier</a></span>, Josh Lowe?
What do you think?
This is unrelated to Stephenson, but you know your stuff on prospects. I have the final pick in a Dynasty draft where we have 20 + minor league slots. there Isn't much left out there as the leagues has been around, but I'm high on a handful of guys. Who would you take of the following?:
<span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=70473">Joe Musgrove</a></span>, <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=104779">Jack Flaherty</a></span>, <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=70437">Michael Clevinger</a></span>, Grant holmes, Josh hader, or <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=103260">Javier Guerra</a></span>,
Who of these names is going to either jump to the majors or sneak into the top 30 prospects next year?
