1. Not unique perhaps, but memorable was watching Frank Thomas take BP during Spring Training in Sarasota in the early 90's. This was done in one of the practice fields outside of the stadium, so we watched from about 10 feet away as Frank smashed ball after ball over the fence, landing in the street adjacent to the practice field. It seems like a miracle that no cars were hit by any of his shots. There were several people positioned out in the the street fielding the balls. Ozzie Guillen was also taking BP, and he narrated with an exaggerated accent as Frank hit - "He can heet, he can heet." Frank signed autographs for a mob of people after BP was over, allowing my sons to get the autograph of their favorite player. It was a good day. 2. Always liked Don Buford, especially when Earl Weaver gave him the "bunt for a hit" signal, which he promptly executed to score the runner from third for the game winner.
