As Mariners pitchers drop like flies, I personally would like to see <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=71204">Max Povse</a></span> get one of those rotation spots for the time being.

Florida Fire Frogs wanted to clear a spot for Tebow? Honestly, I think aside from the better quality pitchers he'd likely face in Mississippi, I wonder how much experience he has in cooler weather ballparks. A quick glance at his player page shows a whole lot of Florida, and not much else. It's possible they feel it's better for his development to get more accustomed to other temperate zones. He was in Virginia briefly, but he didn't play at Danville for too long. I'm grasping for straws here, but I always wonder if teams will purposely put a prospect out of his comfort zone, weather-wise, because they don't want his first taste of a cold weather game to be in the Majors.

<span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=109135">Jesus Luzardo</a></span> may be the annual Nats prospect who gets brought up in every chat from July-on. Once he gets into short-season and pitches like Javier Barragan saw here, he will be popular. Two years ago it was Robles, last year it was Soto. If he's healthy, his stuff will garner a lot of interest.

No bench, just minors and DL. So it was an issue of going half the season getting a zero from someone. Not everyone has patience for that.

As a Phillies fan, I never saw much about how hard Dom Brown was working to get better. I feel Gallo gets that press. There are articles about him having Giambi teaching him, watching film, and swearing off social media.

I believe in Gallo. There have been a lot of write-ups highlighting that he's made adjustments and put the work in. He just needs the at-bats. The Rangers jerked him around quite a bit last year and never gave him consistent at-bats. He's getting them right now, and I think the non-batting average numbers reflect an improvement. A drawback of the position changes they've employed coupd be more time practicing an unfamiliar spot in the field when the time could have been spent working on minimizing holes in the swing. For a while I've believed his best chance to maximize his potential is in another organization. If Gallo gets moved to a "rebuilding" team for a pitcher, for example, this team may be more motivated to just give him the at-bats he needs to work through things and hopefully show the progress Springer and Sano have made.

Two notables that I'd add: <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/player_search.php?search_name=Corey+Ray">Corey Ray</a></span> made his debut in High A and went 2-5 with a triple and a stolen base, so I guess the knee is okay. <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=105984">Estevan Florial</a></span> went 3-4 on Saturday with a home run, a double, and two stolen bases.

I feel like people were similarly low on Jung Ho Kang when he came over, as well. I guess the assumption is that it won't translate. It didn't for Byun Ho Park, but I feel like there's an opportunity for Hwang to at least call dibs on third base.

I haven't gotten to watch too much of Spring Training, but I've caught a little bit of the Giants for some reason. I wouldn't be surprised if Hwang usurps the 3B job from Nunez this season, but his age makes it hard to really consider him a "prospect". I appreciate your writing, as always. Excellent article. I have a few more possibilities to add: What if <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=59432">Mike Trout</a></span> was hypnotized to visualize all opponents as clowns? And the talent level of the opponent made the clown scarier on a scale of one to Pennywise? What if we hid clues to a puzzle around the field, and almost certainly on each base, and told him his team only wins if he can solve the National Treasure style hunt by the end of the game? What if we rigged his cleats with whoopee cushion sound effects so every step he took made distracting and hilarious fart noises? I think we need to really discuss all options to level the playing field.

I had the 60 OFV from <a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/author/grant_jones">Grant Jones</a> in mind when I asked about him. I was assuming he has to be in the reliever conversation because his secondaries didn't sound ready to be a member of the rotation at this point. It's entirely possible they can build up that way and he can transition to a starter's role, but I just feel like the Rule V selection will have him locked in as a long reliever unless he gets offered back, clears waivers, and goes to the minors for some more development.

Are we considering <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/player_search.php?search_name=Miguel+Diaz">Miguel Diaz</a></span> a reliever, as he'll probably be stashed in the bullpen for a year as a Rule V guy? I read lists like this and just briefly forget why he isn't right there near the top. I figured if he wasn't #2, he had to be top five. It wasn't until I got out of the top ten that I remembered. It was a terrible loss for baseball.

Very great article. Did the Kiriloff injury hurt the Twins much as an organization in these rankings? I know TJ surgery isn't the same for positional players as pitchers, but it may limit the scope of his future position. I'm not sure how much one player's downgrade would substantially impact an organization.

Personal favorite may be the <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=109123">Jason Groome</a></span> floor. Honestly, I'd like to just see the Rangers deal Gallo at this point. They don't seem to have the patience for him to find his feet in the Majors, but there is not that much left for him in AAA. Buxton - As a Phillies fan, I see too much of what happened with Dom Brown there. Buxton is much more talented than Brown ever was, but I worry the Twins are ruining him. I wonder if a change of scenery sooner would be more beneficial to Buxton's career. Actually thought the Braves would be an interesting match with Albies as a centerpiece. Gallo - I don't see where he fits in with Beltre coming back. His arm is too much of an asset to just sit on first base. He has more value at third or COF, and could probably get a nice return now. I appreciate the response, especially so early.

Do you think the success of <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=101992">Julio Urias</a></span> plays a part in the way prospects like <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=105921">Anderson Espinoza</a></span> get handled by teams and fans? We can look at Urias' timeline and success at even higher levels at the same age, and you want to see some teams test a player if they supposedly have the make-up for it. I think Urias has spoiled us a bit, because he changed the timeline that we normally view a prospect like that on.

Could you see the tandem-pitching strategy the Astros use in the minors gaining some momentum in the Major Leagues? You could conceivably get away with a lower amount of pitchers if you go with four tandems and a few short relievers. It might even be cheaper because long relievers tend to be cheaper to acquire, and the starters for your tandem might be able to get away with a little more if they won't be turning through the lineup as many times. <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=70349">Tony Cingrani</a></span>, for example, might be more effective over three or four innings with his small sorting of pitches than he would if he was aiming for seven innings. The strategy could make even more sense in the AL where your pitchers aren't asked to bat, and having an additional bench bat instead of bullpen arm could be useful in a tight contest.

They should move towards a harder cap on prospect budgets, rather than rely on a penalty. Combine draft and IFA budgets into one amount and for every dollar a team spends over that amount this year, it'll be deducted from the following year's budget. Perhaps have an exclusion on Major League deals for players defecting from Cuba or coming over from Asia. If the contract automatically puts the player on the 40 man roster, the first year of salary should count towards the total instead of the bonus. I'm sure I'll have disagreement on this, but I'd like the debate.

Swihart has a high floor where he should be a consistent and valuable contributor as a catcher. Schwarber has a bat that should be productive, but he may have to move to a position that it won't carry quite the same value.

Nice list. How much do you consider positional value? I know catcher is a position that a lot of "experts" believe you shouldn't put too much value in with a fantasy team, but backstops seem to be better represented on your 101 than I've seen elsewhere.

That's how unsettling and disgusting I found this exercise. Also, where's Bobby Wahl?

I kind of like the sound of that set-up because I imagine prospects get valued less when there's a risk of losing them without a return. Prospect valuation in dynasty leagues is always off, in my opinion. At least in your league it sounds like they aren't being treated as if their ceiling is the only possible outcome.

Considering every single player mentioned in Bret Sayre's Dynasty 50 from last year has been picked so far and about two dozen of the players from the BP Top Ten prospect lists are unowned, the pickings are pretty slim. I'll take a flier on an upside guy one of the BP writers or someone somewhere else has suggested may break out. If you question Ricardo Sanchez, I'm guessing my Lewin Diaz stash is not something you'd suggest. I'd be happy to share my team with you, though. I've got 16 of the 101 on my roster, with another ten or so who show up on lists elsewhere. I'd be happy to have you glance it over sometime and provide feedback, but I know how busy you guys are.

First of all, the obligatory "where would Ricardo Sanchez fit onto this list?" Secondly, has the opinion changed much at BP regarding Natanael Delgado? I don't really like the argument regarding an intent to close. Cheesesteaks and hoagies are universally recognized as sandwiches, but the quantity of meat inside means there should be no reasonable expectation of the bread to close. By Craig Breslow's logic, these objects should be removed from the sandwich distinction, similar to Pluto losing its status as a planet. If KFC can call bacon and cheese between two pieces of breaded chicken WITH NO BUN OF ANY SORT a sandwich, I don't see why any object purposely enclosed by another object cannot be legitimately regarded as a sandwich. I say we grease up the slippery slope and let it all slide.

No apologies needed. I didn't expect him to stay in the AZL as long as he has during his rehab. I would also have assumed he'd move into short-season or Low-A by now based on his age and success at this juncture, so it's easy to forget he's playing. They've been limiting him to about three innings a start, from what I can tell. I hadn't really seen a report on his velocity, either, so he could still be recovering and just getting by on guile.
