Is the pomeranz ranking a token one cause of the trade? Cause him at 15 doesn't make much sense, heck Myers has clearly more trade value

Do any of you have opinions on Josh VanMeter who is playing very well (by the statline) at LE. Not one of crazier parks in Cal league and still just 21/was 5th rounder. Dealt with injuries in past, think there are questions on his defense? Thanks

Not saying they are similar defensively, or he's close to as good as offensively. Just his best hitting attribute is power+walks and will K quite a bit.

Collins seems a little bit like a poor man's version of Gallo at the plate. These two players seem very different, and I think Collins has higher upside

Just my opinion and obviously you and Keith are very much more qualified than me, both of you prefer Ray. Looking at stats/scouting reports I have worries about Ray's profile, and I do realize Ray faced much tougher competition. Ray's walk rate for this year worries me, it's not strong for a top of the draft college position player type. And while he hit 15 HR's, only a kind of normal iso of 242 (Senzel's is 243). Obviously the speed is a big plus in his profile, and puts a little less pressure on his non batting average hitting profile. As for Lewis I like him more, I get the concerns about swing and miss (he struck out 48 times this year against poor competition). But it should be noted how much his walk rate improved since last year. He seems more likely to be a CFer thanks to his experience, and it's not like he himself can't run. The power goes without saying with a 336 ISO,and he seems to have some raw poer. The walk/power combo is why I prefer him, even though Ray is more likely to hit for a high average. As I said earlier you are significantly more qualified than me to have a strong opinion on this, but jmo.

Almora is still walking just 3.3% of time this year, I think he's a 4th OF unless he's a 70+ defender which seems possible.

Was surprised he didn't hit more homers given how many runs his team scored

They got them for a reliever, and Kelly was showing some progress till his unfortunate injury. Erlin actually was looking like he belonged earlier this year but now needs TJ. Totally disagree on Ross being mid rotation type (but I know that's a different argument)

Is Brad Zunica a legit prospect? Sounds like he has big power, but is relegated to 1B, and his big swing and miss issues.

Some disagreements. Think Bryant is painfully low at 12, and would put him at 3, his hitting was terrific like we thought it would be but his base running and defense far beat expectations. Love Arenado's story from his questions as a prospect and he is a terrific defender, 80 grade no doubt, but I think his OBP with half his games in coors is overlooked, definitely would have had him lower. Mookie is too low for me, just like Bryant I think he could be a darkhorse MVP candidate this year. Think Seager is too high though I understand why he is there, he didn't exactly hit in the minors like the best prospect in baseball (not that he hit unlike a very good prospect) and there are questions whether he can stick at SS, his month in majors shouldn't be totally discounted but not a huge factor either. I think Perez is probably the most overrated guy on your list, he's an awful framer, maybe the most important singular defensive skill that we have stats for. And he's shown no progress at the plate, he's actually gotten somewhat worse, some of this could be on Royals for overusing him but still. He probably is really good at things that are really tough to judge like calling games, and "chemistry" but i think he is too high. Anyways these are just my opinions that could very well be way off the mark, and I'm not trying to be rude or anything.

The AL East is incredibly tough to forecast for this year, I haven't looked at BP playoff odds but I think the projections are too high on TB, and 4 teams have a 15+% chance of winning the division

Pomeranz made the rotation (bet Rea gets other starting spot). And I think your PA estimate for Blash is low

Supposedly Padres already have handshake deals with Jose Fernandez (no not that one), Adrian Morejon (in the 8 figure range), Jorge Ona, and lead for Lazarito. They also have quite a few handshake deals for Venezuelans, will be interesting to see how much money they spend. Draft and trades will be huge too obviously

I find it incredibly disappointing that outside of Simmons the Angels did absolutely nothing of consequence. Even signing guys like Rich Hill, Henderson Alvarez, Juan Uribe, Joe Blanton could have helped there ceiling and been cheap signings.

Berrios has a lot of Clayton Kershaw in him, only he has a much better third offering. I expect him to be the best pitcher in baseball next year (not this year as I am a bit conservative on prospects).

Dodgers are in win now mode along with being able to flex financial muscle and focus on future, How many of there prospects are really impact guys that you can maybe count on this year? I'd say the only one is De Leon. I very much doubt Urias is going to start more than a couple games for Dodgers (if any). Montas hasn't proven he can throw enough strikes to start and I believe Dodgers plan on him in pen when he comes back from injury, Lee I don't think he's proven he's even a backend guy. Holmes and Alvarez aren't going to pitch for big club, and Cotten while interesting also needs to prove he can throw enough strikes to start. I thought Dodgers came into this year with a lot of SP depth, I'm a believer in Bolsinger as a 3/4 type. They came into this year with Kershaw, Kazmir, Wood, Ryu, Anderson, De Leon, Maeda, McCarthy (if he gets healthy), and Bolsinger as guys I thought you could realistically count on. Anderson and McCarthy are already out for a while, Ryu maybe out 1 month, De Leon isn't going to start the year with big club and is more of a wild card than the others, Wood and Kazmir have injury concerns (and I believe Maeda has small ones as well). I felt confident that Dodgers run away with NL West coming into the year, not so much anymore.

It is very confusing that Cody Bellinger is not considered the best prospect since Bryce Harper, he is a much more athletic Paul Goldschmidt but might be half a grade lower on the power scale. How is he 9th on a teams list?

Yeah Giants lineup is deep I would say, and Dodgers have something that really matters over 162 games, starting pitching depth. I do think AZ has some pessimistic projections (Pollock is projected for a 3.1 WARP decrease) and I think Shelby/Greinke will beat there projections easily. One big issue with AZ is how they have no position player or starting pitching depth to speak of, they are going to need to be exceptionally healthy. I expect Dodgers to run away with the division.

Just got a subscription and have been following on twitter throughout and listening to all the podcasts love your work. On Wisler does he show any third pitch like slider or change that could be average or is it like all fastball/curve? Thanks!
