Thanks for the responses. In addition to the Hickory names mentioned, do Mazara or Guzman have the ability to work their way in with a strong 2nd half, or still too far away to be considered?
Strange to see no Rangers, especially considering how loaded their farm system is (albiet at low levels). Not shocked he fell, but no consideration for Olt considering it is now looking like his early season struggles were due to vision problems?
Good read, thank you. One minor note - I believe you listed Stewart's high school with Ball as well. While that would make for quite a high school team, that is not the case.
Love seeing you're still bullish on Alfaro. I have to think that, not that he is the pet project of the real legend, he has some serious potential to move quickly up this list.
While I do 100% agree with Kevin's point that the player certainly has the right to pass this up, has anybody done a study of how well it works passing up first round money? It seems like baseball is such a fickle sport (especially for pitchers), I just don't know if I would take the chance to pass up several million for the potential to earn a little more.
Granted, this is much easier said than done and I have zero talent so this wasn't even an issue for me, but it seems like if I was confident enough to go back to school to move up a couple of picks, instead I'd apply that confidence to getting to free agency a year earlier (maybe) and thus earning more with my next contract.
Thanks for the write-up Jason. Any chance the Hendricks or Tepesch see Frisco this year?
I think scout is just Joe Buck typing his thoughts
Have you had a chance to see Matt West yet? He is still in his first year pitching so pretty far away from the big leagues, but he is putting Kimbrel-esque K numbers in A ball. What kind of promotion path should he be on?
