Most improbable moment live was Jeff Johnson of the Yankees (in like his third of about four career starts) carrying a perfect game into the sixth inning against Scott Erickson and the Twins in 1991. In the sixth, Johnson remembered he was Jeff Johnson, but Scott Erickson kept going and finished a two-hitter. Players I loved watching included Pat Kelly, despite the fact that he couldn't hit his way out of paper bag, Zane Smith, who wasn't the best pitcher of the '80s, but had good stuff and was one of the ugliest, and Scott Kamienecki, who just reminded me of someone getting up and going to work every day. He wasn't especially good at his job and he never seemed to like it very much (I don't remember seeing him ever smile), but dammit, he worked hard and did as well as he could.
