Detroit's link to their top 10 prospects directs you to the top 10 of Tampa Bay.
I find it really interesting to see Yunel Escobar down in the one star range. I think he is better than quite a few of the ones ahead of him.
I guess it probably goes without saying that October 24 is not a Friday.
I enjoy Wendy's chili, but I think it gets better later in the day. I have always wanted to try Ben's Chili Bowl in Washington, D.C. They are always showing pictures of it whenever I watch a Nationals game and it looks pretty good.
Quick procedural question: I am going to buy a ticket to the Kansas City event, but I am waiting to hear from another person if he can go. Are the seats assigned as soon as I buy tickets or can we still be seated together if I buy his later?
Do we even have any info on this event? I have been waiting on this too.
I am shocked that you have trouble getting baseball fans to go to an event in Tampa.
I love PECOTA, but I am still waiting for Matt Weiters to get somewhere close to his rookie year forecast.
I can understand that, but what harm would come in sharing the top 101. I would think the top 101 is pretty close to being finished since the book is about to come out. It would be great if we could get the top 101 at the same time you send it to the printer. Usually we don't get it that way, but we usually have all of the team prospects done. Last January we got the prospect lists from 10 different teams. This year we are only at five with less than a week to go.
I just wish we could get the prospects stuff going on a quicker pace. Every year it starts out pretty good with two teams a week. Then, usually right before Christmas, it slows to a crawl. Even though the holidays have passed, we are still usually only getting one team a week. This is very frustrating to me since I am a Scoresheet Baseball player and I have to make some decisions regarding rookie keepers and I feel like I am uninformed if the Prospectus hasn't covered the teams I need them to cover yet.
I think this may be the single best article I have ever read on Baseball Prospectus.
From the contract offers I've seen from the Mets to Dickey, I don't think they value him very much.
It was probably a tough decision for Kevin. On one hand, you want to move up to a major league organization to see if you really know your stuff enough to actually see if it will work in the major leagues. On the other hand, it was the Astros.
If Appel gets his degree from Stanford he will have a chance to be a millionaire even if he never plays baseball.
It looks like Las Vegas is planning to build a new 42,000 seat domed stadium on the West side of the UNLV campus. It is right next to the airport and about one mile from the Strip. Maybe that would be an even better site to move the A's. They have been in one city far too long anyway. They are nomads, it is in their nature.
Why did the Predictatron go away? I really liked picking the standings more than the hitters.
Daily? None. You submit lineups on Sunday night or Monday morning every week. You have the results for the previous week in your inbox every Monday night.
Another suggestion, if Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro and Mark McGwire are cheaters for using steroids, are our baseball heroes of the past cheaters for popping stimulants which most freely admit they did.
In the 90s through the early 00s, was it better to be the Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians (regular contenders with only one championship between them) or the Florida Marlins (2 time world champion with no other good seasons and still no division championships)?
I hope when we get to down, we don't have a chance to vote on both anymore. I hope we read both, and pick one or the other.
I really don't like the statement that neither team can much afford a loss. It is not do or die for anybody yet, and every team in both leagues will lose a bunch more games this year.
Not having Predictatron may make me rethink renewing my subscription in future years. I have never done well, but it is something I have enjoyed playing. I just really hate to see it go and I hate that the customers weren't consulted on its elimination.
Why is there no predictatron contest this year so we can all get out picks in?
Is there no prediction contest like last year? It was nice to see how everybody predicted wins on all the teams and it was something to follow all year. I see Hacking Mass is back, but I haven't seen predictatron.
I am reminded of the part in Ken Burns Baseball miniseries where the guy who is interviewed was from Brooklyn. His father was a huge Dodgers fan and a huge National League fan. When the Mets came to New York it wasn't exactly the same, but they often went to ballgames. However, they never went when the Mets played the Dodgers because his father never wanted Walter O'Malley to get another penny from him and he knew the Dodgers got a share of ticket revenue even in games in New York.
I guess BP doesn\'t think Juan Cruz will make the Roylas. They have updated three times since he has signed and he still does not appear to get any playing time.
TCU 19, Ole Miss 13 in game 1 of a scheduled doubleheader, but the weather makes the rest of the series questionable. It would be nice to finish as I don\'t believe these games can be made up, but if not, go ahead and move the Frogs into the top 10.
As a Las Vegas resident, I am blacked out of games involving 6 MLB teams that claim Las Vegas as a territory (Dodgers, Angels, Diamondbacks, A\'s, Giants, Padres). Only San Diego televises games in this market and that is likely only because Cox Cable serves Las Vegas and San Diego. The funny part is that none of these teams have any interest in Las Vegas as a market. Both the Padres and Dodgers have quit their AAA affiliations with Las Vegas and now Las Vegas is affiliated with Toronto. Las Vegas is now the only one of the 8 Western Conference teams in the Pacific Coast League to be affiliated with an Eastern team. If these MLB teams don\'t want the market, they shouldn\'t get to claim it.
Baseball is bigger than basketball in Texas. It just doesn\'t make sense for the state to have 3 NBA teams and only 2 MLB teams. Of course football is biggest of all, and it still has more NBA teams than NFL teams.
I just commented during Will\'s chat yesterday that I was really missing the indexes. It is tough to remember who players played for last year sometimes.
If the Mariners have insurance on Ichiro, it might be the best thing that could happen to him.
