There's an on-going MLB farce where Selig has appointed a "blue ribbon" panel to decide if the A's can move to San Jose, which would drastically change their finances. It's been dragging on for years with no decision in site. Lew Wolff, the A's owner, has no problem blaming the Giants and Selig for blocking him, but the growing suspicion is that he likes the panel's inertia just fine: "don't make me move and earn revenue!".

THEIR FIRST CHOICE WAS ERIC WEDGE TAKING AP SPANISH Damn... that might be Mr. Carnevale's funniest pseudo-headline yet. Brilliant!

Dear BP - I have a confession to make. As much as I love the minutiae of statistics, as much as I love the work of Sheehan and Kahrl and their cohorts, I would pay my annual subscription dues just to read This Week in Quotes. For example, the quotes about the Indians forfeiture of their future by the participants was hilarious. I praise Mr. Carnevale repeatedly.

Fremont doesn\'t fall into your \"field of schemes\" category, Neil, as I think you realize. Wolff has been clever to this point about bartering for the land and building the stadium as close to Santa Clara county as he can get it, right on the edge of the Magowan\'s fiefdom (which is a ridiculous MLB decision, btw). I went to a lot of old stadia (the Vet, Shea, Memorial Park, Candlestick) and I\'d argue that what Oakland has is the single worst park in baseball since... Jarry Park? The place is a crypt. For the love of baseball and everyone in the Bay Area, this thing *needs* to get built.
