Mateo should be NYY, not NYM.
Close. Episode 774 was 1:06:22 and I only have 100 or so episodes saved on my PC.
So we're saying that the Appel doesn't fall far from the three?
I used to hang out with Kyle on an IRC poker channel. Great to see him doing well.
Sweatshirt guy also wore an awful white long-sleeve t-shirt to game six that read "WE COOK BIRD AND BATS IN KC, TOO"
"TTTO (Game 1)" is listed twice. The first should read "TTTO (Regular Season)"
Correct. The storm is actually meandering a little further southwestward than expected, so they may have to do what they did with tomorrow's Jays game and push it in to an earlier start (currently 3:05). As of right now, the threat looks a little less serious with the slower storm, though.
Given the upcoming East Coast weather and the Yankees' late slump, it seems that there may be a chance that a game is played in Baltimore on Monday. If they were to fall to the second wildcard, that would be a pretty awful situation, rest-wise. They really need to get their act together.
<span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=105425">Jeff Hoffman</a></span> was getting absolutely tagged the first two innings, but then settled in and was very effective. We sat right in front of his parents and gave them pitch count updates.
Severino only gave up one earned run. The first was unearned following a <span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=47736">Chase Headley</a></span> error. He also struck out seven, not six.
Judge threw out two runners at second, as well.
I have a Melbourne Aces hat. I got it at a Melbourne Aces game. I would have given a really boring answer to that man's question.
Speaking of speed, Mateo's <span class="statdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/glossary/index.php?search=HR" onmouseover="doTooltip(event, jpfl_getStat('HR'))" onmouseout="hideTip()">HR</span></a> was an inside-the-parker.
I was at the 14 inning game. We ran out of nips bottles in the 10th. :(
I sold my Hollywood Stock Exchange account on eBay for $257 my junior year of high school, roughly $1 per <span class="statdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/glossary/index.php?search=H" onmouseover="doTooltip(event, jpfl_getStat('H'))" onmouseout="hideTip()">H</span></a>$1M. At the time it was in the top 70 or so. My investment was to buy everything I could because it all went up after the IPOs. Pretty much 90% movies and very few actors/actresses. No options.
@<a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/author/kate_morrison">Kate Morrison</a>: "What makes a man decide to start collecting cups?"
Maybe he was Australian.
One slight error:
13. Noah Syndergaard, RHP, WAS
As if the Nats needed more pitching depth.
This seems like a good opportunity to troll and just make up names.
I know it's not a good thing to do from the PR side of things, but the urge to write names like "Wank Stormdrainer" and "Drippy McShingle" would win out were I in this situation.
The beer was way overpriced. $10 for a sierra nevada harvest pint.
I'm six for six so far in the office pool. Went Giants 5-1 for this one. I'm just rooting for something that doesn't make me leave the bar early, like games 1 and 6 did.
Vegas odds are currently +134/-144 in favor of KC which seems a little odd.
I still remember going to a Ravens game and getting quentin mccracken's autograph. Those were the days.
From what I've heard from people in the know on state politics, the whole stadium deal is as crooked as one might expect. I really can't get into a Bluefish game when I go, so moving the closest real minor league team another 15 minutes down the road (closer to 25 when you factor in the additional traffic in that neck of the woods) is pretty annoying.
Living in Connecticut, I am quite sad that Byron Buxton will only play a fraction of one home game here ever. The New Britain Rock Cats are now a Rockies affiliate. Sad face.
Kuroda was absurd after the first 7 pitches last night. Glad to see him end his Yankee career on a high note.
Also, did anyone find my Hillsboro Hops hat on the field at Yankee stadium? I would like it back.
Oh and there in the second paragraph. Can I undrink my beers now, too?
I haven't even read the article yet but I just posted this during a Yankee game thread on facebook and it's related
Why should the K's be noted? First three PAs at a new level, also, in a game with 13 total strikeuts for Baysox pitching.
shmage: Even the Nats' announcers were read to concede that run for a while. I'm pretty sure that they just flip a coin for these calls after yesterday... although they must flip it off of an airplane given the amount of time it take for them to make up their mind.
Heard the news about Buxton and saw the photos and my heart sunk. Was excited for his callup and hoping to see him in NB one of the last two weekends of the year. Here's to hoping he makes a full recovery and gets all the time he needs. I might just go to my first minor league opening day next year if he does.
I saw my first major league game in 1988 and started attending them regularly around 2006.
I went about fifty games without seeing extra innings and then managed to catch FOUR games featuring bonus frames out of a total of ten seen in 2012. These included two of the Raul Ibanez games:
- Game 161 vs. BOS, played under a fine mist, which concluded with my friend Erick getting a nice "f*** the Red Sox" chant going, to the tune of "La Bamba." We were a long way into the evening and far from family-friendly.
- ALCS game 1, which featured $50 day-of-stubhubbed field level seats for the most pathetically-attended postseason contest I've ever seen, Jeter's broken ankle and its resultant pin-drop hush, and the lowest decibel-to-passenger ratio of any train car I've ever been on, including the green cars on Japan rail. We stopped at a corner store to grab a couple six packs to numb the sadness of what we knew was the season's end, even though we still had three additional losses through which to suffer.
Allstar game 2015: #playwithapit
Let's get the snowball rolling.
Weird, I got Stanton at 11/4 for a red chip yesterday. Line shifted since I woke up?
I would have bet more but those NPB lines were so juicy today.
P.S. I am kidding about the NPB thing. The lines weren't juicy.
Oop, I see that the part that should be corrected is "fourth" to "fifth"
"Buxton entered the year at the top of the Baseball Prospectus Top 101 Prospects list, with Correa just four spots behind at fourth overall"
Wouldn't that be three spots behind?
I would take Ryan over Jeter at this point, even with the noodle bat and faltering D relative to his last few years. At least he wouldn't be hitting second.
I'm really not enjoying watching Joe Girardi manage Jeter's retirement tour, despite his claims to the contrary. He's one of the five worst everyday players in baseball at this point.
Given the physics of tractor beams, wouldn't Ellis' mitt actually be the beam's source, rather than Kershaw's arm and hand?
A teflon guy.
These playoff adds are pretty terrible at work, where we use IE7, which sucks. They make me want to avoid budweiser products for the duration of the playoffs, which won't be difficult.
Regarding the happy jet:
Jet-balloons are a pretty popular custom at Japanese ballgames, to the point where some teams have banned them. Yakult had a sign prohibiting the practice when I saw a game there in 2011.
Here's a video of a massive, slightly disturbing, release of a bunch of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDhfR8-QTpg
Never mind.. I see that the link embedded within the link works!
Aaaand the podcast changes to a site that is blocked at work. Guess I'll have to download these before I leave in the morning from now on.
Clearly we need a Venditte-esque 'switch catcher' who can use a two-way glove and switch off depending on the batter/runners on combination.
One could argue that he was worth well more than his weight in gold. Even at CURRENT spot prices, it (190lbs of gold) is only $4.2mil or so.
The so-called "imaginary" counts?
"There are 16 possible ball-strike counts."
It's 80 degrees in my cubicle so I may be going insane, but I seem to be missing four of these.
This made me smile.
