Ditto on Brian Bannister. Got to talk to him at the Saberseminar in Boston. Was the highlight for me. Other than Harry of course.
Great insight. After reading this and meeting Brian Bannister this weekend, I'm looking foward to greater analysis by former players in the future.
Would it be fair to say that some pitchers with bad mechanics would likely be less effective with proper mechanics. I'm thinking more of a major change then a tweak. Would changing the muscle memory and windup of some guys take away their edge? Just a thought.
This is helpful. Thanks Bret
Would love to see more notes like these =)
Good work Josh. Have you any info on what the velocity readings are for Wade Davis, so far? Jason Collette mentioned that his ability to carry the velo he had in the bullpen last season to the starting rotation will determine his success.
I'm enjoying this type of article. More auction discussion is apreciated.
Was a bit surprised to see Chris Owings on the list. Is it that he is closer to being ready for major league action or are you just more confident in his talent than most?
Why comment on an article you admittedly stated you didnt read?
Mike Minor in league that keep 120 players max? Minor wouls cost RD 21 pick or i could keep Glen Perkins at rd 20.
That was great. Thanks
I was surprised how much the Trout/Miggy debate brought up the fear of Sabermetrics or just math in so many writers and radio personalities(not analysts). Is it really that fearful to have tools to help find the real value of a player? Pretty much every pitch and event in a baseball game is now captured and analyzed in numerous ways. It's sad that some feel that this info cannot be a real tool, and have large audiences to share there nonsense. I know I'm preaching to the choir but I just don't understand the deathgrip some have on so called "tradition", in spite of the evidence.
Good Stuff Jason. Had the pleasure to attend the 2012 Draft and got to meet and shake hands with Courtney Hawkins and recently have regained feeling in my pinkie and forefinger :p
Hope the White Sox put a NO FLIP clause in his contract.
Mark Anderson is a smart addition but I would expect nothing less.
Who knew this would would be the last one :(
Congrats on a well deserved chance to live a dream.
Long way from the Prospect report which was my first taste of prospect watching. The podcast will be missed but will now become a legend.
Why do you think the ball would mean anymore to the kid after 5 minutes. You make it sound like a middle aged man cant have a connection to baseball.
You the man Joe!!!
I just wanted to add that Kimball Crossley is really a great speaker. He has done scouting sessions in AZ during the AFL. Always great stuff.
Thank you Joe. I appreciate your efforts
I can see you as an incendiary. Does classIfying yourself make you automatically uncool?
Thanks for the new toy.
The show has been enjoyable so far, and can see it gradually getting better as they slowly raise the depth. It certainly not made only for hard core sabers but it will def raise the baseball IQ of the Avg fan and at least double for those who watch Intentional Talk. Last nights show I found Esp interesting.
Congrats to Joe, one of BP's unsung talents and a good guy.
Thats good stuff!
What has happened to Kyle Drabek and do you see him getting back his mojo?
Very Good Article. Thanks
My bad, Pinmentel was in LF primer.
Was Guillermo Pimentel a consideration for your list?
Also,The stick was my favorite part of Fun Dip.
Great Stuff. I am wiping the tears from my eyes after watching Wellman's epic meltdown.
Great Stuff. The John Bonham reference made it Golden!
Really enjoyed the article and how you approached it. Still have a ways to go before we can assimilate all that a good defensive catcher brings, and what level of offense is acceptable from a lesser Offensive C to offset (bring in close to a wash)
Interesting food for thought
If the Mets received Sanchez from SF, he would have only 1 season before FA. He has toomuch potential for Ollie part deux to sign
As a Met fan, it would be dissapointing not to get a decent young ML ready playerunder control for several years and a good prospect.
Triple Digit Rosters!? Now that is deep. I feel much better about my fantasy addiction now.
Any updates on Uehara?
" What were you Drinking when you wrote this."
Seriously, good stuff and i apreciate something a little different and creative. Glad to have you aboard.
Yes, I had to click on the Edward Gibbon link to get it.
Considering the good stuff we have been getting in the newsletter, its a fair tradeoff.
I know the Mets couldn't come up with that question!
RE Gene: This was the first step. To make the first show strictly for Hardcore Fantasy players would have likely prevented a 2nd show(although there are plenty of us out there)
We all hope the show will continue on some level, and and that point,if they are on firmer ground they can get much deeper.
I am surprised so many don't recognize that aspect.
The guys had to keep it somewhat simple,if we ever want to see it again. They were able to throw in some tidbits for the experienced players. As Cory said, gotta walk before you can run. I imagine the first mention of BABIP, a lot of sets would have changed channels.
Maggs44 Have patience my friend
Keep it simple, stay with the good sites that show there work. Dont follow the hype and do your own research. You can always out work the competition
I Think Cory and Mike did a great job representing the Fantasy community!!
They were natural and comfortable, which we all hope will lead to something permanent. The guys got the message out without only catering to the fantasy nuwbies. If only they did it last week, but i believe this will be the start of something good. Mike Siano got off a couple of zingers and Cory as well. It was really there show and they looked like they belong.
