I prefer playoff tequila - but rum still works. The important thing is that playoffs are to be celebrated.
Jason Cole - A couple of weeks ago I asked about Drew Pomeranz, and you mentioned you might be seeing him soon. Did that happen, and if so, what were your thoughts on his new ceiling/floor?
yay. this is going to be really helpful if done every day.
Very nice. Looking forward to it.
Wondering how you see Michael Wacha fitting into all of this.
Great article. It is fascinating that sports so often has narratives that support that which we so much want to believe. Other than war, I can't think of anything where story lines can be so divergent, depending on the point of view of the individual. We invest greatly in things that we wish to believe.
Thanks for adding the player's age. I really find that helpful.
I am one of them. The "rookie eligibility" criteria works well for my particular interests.
I am thinking what the Nats really need is a high OBP, strong defense, centerfielder. Pushing Harper to right and keeping Morse in left leaves Lombo where he should be - a super-utility guy.
Voter fraud! 12 guys but 13 votes - did you check IDs?
Predictions for Freidrich's season?
What in the world is going on with Jacob Turner?
What is going on with Jacob Turner? I thought he was considered healthy by the end of Spring Training, but now he hasn't pitched, still, and I haven't read any news on him for over a couple of weeks.
What is Boras' nickname on Baseball Propsectus?
My feelings about Boras have run the full spectrum over the 25 years I have followed him. At this point, I have nothing but admiration for his ability to consistently get his clients great deals. And I have no time for the baseball execs who complain about him as they and their peers continually make the same mistakes over and over again. Its astonishing that there is such a long track record and history keeps repeating itself. What a country!
I don't see Morris as a Hall-of-Famer. But your review of the game is sad. Morris pitched an unbelievable game - and he did it in the biggest of games. It was a shutout. You are playing a negative version of shoulda-woulda-coulda. There are few instances where shutouts happen without a little luck, extraordinary defense or gamesmanship. If Gladden had made an impossible diving catch, would you reach the same conclusion? Would you say a hard hit ball that shouldn't have been caught detracts from Morris' performance? The fact that the players (Knoblauch & Gagne) orchestrated a perfect feint is really no different. In either example the shutout pitcher has to have teammates perform a little magic. Watch it again and enjoy the game.
I have had the same goal as Dickey for awhile, now, and have done quite a bit of research on what to expect.
The company that I have researched, a rather safe one, has had one death out of 15,000 customers. That death was an old man who experienced a heart attack near the summit. Sure it's dangerous, but at worst you'd expect that he experiences some severe altitude sickness and needs to be taken back down.
The Mets' organization seems misguided in their disapproval, and somewhat misinformed.
So he shouldn't be placed on top prospect lists. That's okay. But for those of us that just need a ranking, he is, luckily, 25. So where does he list on a Top 25 and under of Texas's organization?
Comfortable enough to throw out a career-year projection for Beckham?
One more question. You're a GM of a team composed completely of replacement level players. You have the money to make a splash this year and want to build your team around one big time international prospect.
Do you sign Yu Darvish or Yoenis Cespedes?
Without giving too much away from your Top 11's, where does this guy rank among other top outfield prospects? Is he an easy five star?
In a previous article you stated that Cosart was outpitched in the Futures Game, based on stuff, only by Matt Moore. If things break right (asking a lot), do you see Cosart having the potential for that kind of impact?
Yorman Rodriguez - Are there any signs that Mr. Tools is getting any closer to controlling real skills?
Trey McNutt - what have we learned in 2011?
Brian Dozier/SS Twins - will he stick at short? Is he good enough to figure as an "average" MLB shortstop? Any tools grade over a 50 now or projecting in the future?
Any worries about the Colorado organization's ability to develop young pitching? Tyler Matzek is my only current example, but their current rotation doesn't inspire.

Isn't Profar on the Rangers?
Why does Smoak's time have an asterisk?
Any word on Christian Friedrich's return? I saw his bad game last night, but any take on whether or not his stuff is still there?
Going on the DL with "flu-like symptoms" is odd in itself. How many pro ballplayers ever go on the DL with the flu? Either he has some funky illness that would explain his opener, or the Twins need a reason to give him cover and are sending him off to see a shrink, his mom or a instuctional league guru.
Hurry, Mr Hicks. The Twins need you.
this is wonderful stuff. thanks for getting some college action on BP.
Who said he doesn't hit enough for LF? And since when do AL DH's outhit LF's? Less than 50%. The issue is he is the leagues worst defensive outfielder.
Defensive statistics do not do Delmon Young "justice". He is beyond brutal. He has no business playing in the field - but Jim Thome precludes any hope of moving him to DH this year. Given Span's limitations as a CF - Young's presence in LF needs to have a measurably negative impact on his total value. Despite the many shortcomings of Carlos Gomez - he was able to go get balls that Delmon should have got - but couldn't bucketfoot his way anywhere close to them. The quicker my Twins get to Revere/Hicks/Benson, the better. I like the sounds of Delmon the DH.
Can you do a version for my abacus?
The article notes that depth charts will not be ready for a week. If you want projections, click on the link at the top of the page entitled, "Rays PECOTA card page".
Bless your heart for doing this.
Sure, but what are you drinking?
Given Trout's advancement and success - what is the best guess on a MLB debut?
Can you check in on Wily Peralta one day?
$14.375 Million. I guess that because it is just slightly more than I make at the gas station.
