What does it mean when a baseball player is compared to Mike Tyson? I don't understand the comparison at all.
Joe Sheehan would never, in a million years, write a piece as petty as this. He has repeatedly defended the rights of players to choose where they want to play and reminded readers of the challenges faced by professional athletes as they try to plan their lives. Mr. Miller is a good writer but he is no Joe Sheehan; he may in fact be the anti-Joe Sheehan, but time will tell.
At baseball-reference, 4 of Jimenez's top 6 comparables are Chris Young, Mark Prior, Eric Bedard, and Rich Harden. The Rockies seem to have sold low-maybe they are worried about injury? That is an incredibly injury-laden group right there.
The Waldo listed above with the White Sox was actually Waldo the White Sox Wolf. I never saw him in person; I think he was only a cartoon. He led the kid's fan club for the White Sox and was not loved.
One factor that some of the other teams on this list didn't have to cope with is the unbalanced schedule. The Orioles get to play great teams almost half the time. This might help them stay on the list.
I just wanted to say-I really enjoyed this article. The writing and the analysis are both excellent. Thanks!
I think the home road splits above are wrong. If those were right, the Red Sox would not have been holding this press conference. Ever.
