Well Done. I take a particular interest in analysis of umpires as I used to umpire. I went to umpire pro-school and umpired all the way up to college baseball. Hate to say it, but make up calls do exist. I hate to admit it, but looking back on my career I have to admit it. I'm not even sure if it's a conscious decision. It's your inate sense of fairness that takes over. Missing a call and knowing it really sucks

I hope you detected the sarcasm in my post. I was basically trying to make the same point you make here.

I guess the inevitable destructive nature of capitalism shines through and we shouldn't ignore the blood that's dripping off the hands of prospect repressing ownership groups accross the league. Ironhorse is totally rational and KG is the new Grand Wizard...

Great article, Chris and Ben shouldn't assume what other readers want to see here. This is obviously not a ridiculous trade speculation article. I believe he was merely underscoring what a great asset the Rays have in Longoria's contract. By comparing the valuation to some over the top player combo's on other franchise's, he's achieved that handsomely.

Ah, BP... re-sign Joe. He and Kevin are irreplaceable, I don't know if I'll renew without him.

Will didn't assert anything anyways. He was speculating, he was asked to speculate on the Braves upcoming decision and he did. If you don't care about his opinion, why are you reading his chat? To me, gtgator's comments were self agrandizing and definately uncalled for.

Great Article Eric I'm looking forward to more analysis using Pitch F/X as more seasons of data are collected and the technology is perfected.

I wonder if a college pitcher has ever refused to pitch to protect his arm? You would have to think that the thought would cross their mind. If I were Strasburg, knowing that if I didn't pitch another college inning I would be guaranteed millions of dollars at the draft, would have to at least consider the possibility of protecting my arm if I was called upon to pitch relief shortly after a 120 pitch start?
