As noted above, Henderson Alvarez is missing. My guess is that you are missing the first page of the Miami pitching section. Can you publish this on-line as an addendum?
Surely NOT a good move for the Rox, since it is not clear Ellis provides an upgrade over either of their existing alternatives. He is not the player he was, and has less upside than what they have already.
Surely there were better 2b alternatives available for rent.
When is BP going to write about the huge shift toward pitching this year and what underlies it? Vogelsong is an example, but there are a number of previously mediocre pitchers having breakout years. What has changed in the game? Where's the big picture analysis, BP?
Selig is one of the all-time great commissioners, though he likely won't be recognized as such until after he's gone..
Leblanc is said to be the fifth starter now.
change in OPS -.71 !!
change in OPS -.68!
change in OPS +.60!
change in OPS +.61!
These are just a few examples that jumped out at.. It appears to me that the PECOTA projections in the book may be park neutral projections based on the direction and pattern of adjustments in the speadsheet.
If so, it would be great if you guys would come clean and admit that, as these changes are obviously material ones that will affect decisions. Appreciate your response.
The book seems poorly edited, as ecumarch notes. What bothers me more, though, are the rather sizeable differences in the PECOTA projections in the book and the recently released spreadsheet. What accounts for the big differences? Is the speadsheet (presumably fixed later) the best estimate?
I was disappointed to see you dropped the "league" column in the spreadsheet. That was useful for sorting in the past.
Any chance of adding that back in the next iteration?
If it's a breakout, PECOTA certainly didn't predict it.
Promise us you won't leave this out again. This tool is essential to the actual use of the book.
