If Herrera goes....who's the new KC closer?
Never mind. Found them under hitters.
Can't seem to locate K.Morales or V. Martinez
Can someone provide a link for the CBS AL auction prices? I can't seem to find it. Thanks in advance.
I enjoyed this unusual look. As an accountant who loves baseball, this was especially interesting to me and a good education for those without a similar background. However, you need to correct your math:
"If a team has borrowed $100 million and reduces its interest rate by half a percentage point, it now has another $5 million in its pocket every year."
This would result in a $500,000 a year savings.
<span class="playerdef"><a href="http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=70387">Javier Baez</a></span> the 2nd most valuable Cub when he is not even a starter. That's BOLD!
Where can I find the PT% for the rest of the catchers in the AL? Thank you.
Mike - For this season only. I can keep only 2 of the following:
A. Ramos $5
Which 2 would you keep? 12 team mixed. Thanks.
Any thoughts on CJ Cron? He is the starting 1B for the Angels, unless I missed something. Thanks.
Albert Hound would make more sense then Albert Coyote.
My money is on Ziegler over Burgos. I know Burgos got 2 saves, but the 1st was in extra innings and the 2nd was probably because Ziegler was unavailable having pitched 2 innings the night before. Unless he has changed his stripes.... Burgos will walk too many to be a viable closer IMO.
This has to be a small negative for Teheran & Wood. They are bound to lose a win or 2 from this.
What are your thoughts on Chris Carter? 37 HR & 88 RBI has got to be worth a mention. I am seriously considering him as a $2 keeper in a standard, mixed league as a CI or UTIL spot.
The Pirates/Braves blown call at the plate had to be on purpose. It was the worst call I have ever seen in 40 years of watching baseball. The ump probably really had to go bathroom. It ruined what was an absolutly incredible game. I challenge anyone to watch the play on Youtube. Nobody could possibly think the runner was safe. Not even the runner.
I think San Francisco should be Blue, not Green.
True trade in my league back in April. Team "A" trades J. Altuve and H. Iwakuma to Team "B" for............Chris Colabello!
Only the commissioner can veto trades in our leagues and as matter of policy...never does. Even worse...he is Team "A"
To no ones surprise....Team "B" is in 1st place and Team "A" is in last place.
Minnesota's SP last night was Correia not Gibson.
How about Ziegler's chances of taking over in Arizona?
One of my favorite Kinerism's occurred during one of George Foster's frequent slumps. "Coming up to bat is George Falter......I.I.I mean Foster"
Brett Anderson's durability is not a question mark it's an oxymoron.
I love the idea of increasing the use of replay to correct bad calls. One thing quickly came to mind that hopefully will be addressed. What will happen is say a batter hits a sinking line drive in the gap and the OF makes a diving play and the umpires rule it a catch. Should the batter continue to run all the way around the bases in case it gets overturned? Should the defense try to tag him out even though he is already out? This could become a farce. There should probably be a standard 1 or 2 bases in cases like this so that batters do not run all the way around the bases after being called out.
How about "a tie goes to the runner"? There is no such rule.
I think you mean deep mixed leagues. Shallow leagues I have played in would not have a need for these types of players but deep leagues would.
IMO - Best slider today is Sergio Romo.
Last year I joined a very old AL-only 4 x 4 10 team auction keeper league. I quickly concluded that SP's like Scherezer & Morrow have little value because their high ERA & WHIP tend to offset the positive value of their W's. I went with mostly closers and middle relievers finishing at or near the top in 3 categories and next to last in Wins. Overall, I finished 2nd in my rookie season. Am I only one to think of this? Am I missing something?
My question in this format (no K's) is how much value to increase relievers and closers and how much value to decrease SP's like Darvish, Morrow, Scherzer, Price, etc.?
The $ saved on SP will be used to buy better hitters.
Could someone provide a link to all the picks? Thanks.
Kyle Seager & Todd Frazier. Where would you rank them among all 3B?
I expected to see Albert Pujols near the top of this list. Can someone explain why he is not.
Fever Pitch and I am not even a Red Sox fan.
Please write about Jhoulys Chacin, Erik Bedard & Shaun Marcum.
Doesn't the new Miami park have a retractable roof? Thus, creating plenty of air-conditioned, indoor baseball. I would imagine that would be very difficult to quantify at this point with no actual data to use.
Does 0.10 mean 1/10 of a run or does it mean a 10% increase in ERA?
Biggest Surprise - Cabrera! - Melky or Asdrubal. While Alex Gordon's stats may have exceeded them, many of us always felt he had the ability. Melky gets my vote because that came completely out of nowhere.
I'll take the Honorable Mentions over the Top 50!
He especially liked to play HoJo at SS when Sid Fernandez pitched because there were very few ground balls when he pitched. In fact one game I remeber attending the Mets did not record a single assist. 1 of only 2 times that ever happened. I still have the scoresheet from that game.
How can you leave out Jose Bautista?
I love the idea!
I would love to see the addition of $ values for auction leagues.
"I had hoped to be in Cincinnati for the Civil Rights Game, except for the blackout." Anyone else notice the irony that the Civil Rights Game was subject to blackout?
Love your work but can't see how you describe Kris Medlen's performance as solid unless you were refering to his girlfriend.
The Juan Pierre comment was probably made by a scout who works for the Mariners
