Off subject .. but seeing Chipper Jones as the worst fielder ever at 3B seems out of place. He's had positive WAR fielding and UZR most of his seasons at 3B. Although his FRAA are all negative. What's the quick summary of the differences?

I don't know who's going to win the central, but the winner is going to have more than 84 wins - especially because the Royals will lose like 100+ games and the AL central leader will beat them up. Where can I bet the under on PECOTA on the Royals? I think last year's PECOTA also had very low win totals for the AL Central winner. It's been more than a decade since the AL central winner had less than 87 wins.

It's great that the Twins will be trading for Matt Garza early in the season! [typo on AL Cy Young]

I think the bigger problem was just how the Braves handled operating under a budget rather than having a budget. Choosing Tim Hudson over Vazquez was a mistake. Signing Wagner before the arbitration deadline was a mistake. Yeah, the Braves should be willing to spend more to win .. but they could have made a lot smarter decisions with the money they have to spend.

My rule for trades is if it looks good on first impression, take it. Give yourself 2 hours. After that the moment is gone as players play new games. It's kind of like how Warren Buffett says he can make a decision on any deal in 24 hours. If you know the value of your own team(company) very well, it doesn't take long to know if a trade is good or not.

Twins fans have to be very happy Joe Crede's deal wasn't being finalized when this news broke.

Is the lesson that front offices are smarter, or that MLB revenues are down. The NFL just cut 150 job, the Arena Football League is folding. Couldn\'t K-Rod getting less money be a factor of a 2009 that looks at revenues going down for MLB? Sure, CC is going to get top dollar, but I think the mid-level free agents are really going to get get a lot less then they thought. I\'m not of the school they\'re any smarter. They just have less to spend.
