Considering Castro was rated as the 20th best prospect and Hernandez was not on KG's list I would say the haul is not impressive.

I'm glad I am not the only person left in North America using the word posthaste. It annoys the hell out of co-workers.

You can either play a single year or you can set it for career mode. As a Twins fan I started out in 1982 and played until current day. Every year during the amateur draft the real players available that year would enter the game. You can alter the setting in hundreds of ways. You can have the real players behave exactly as they did in real life or you can alter their historical performance so much that they would be that player in name only. Since you can access any team since 1901 you will no doubt get your money's worth.

I've spent many hours playing OOTP and it is pretty awesome. I am glad that the trade engine has been upgraded as it used to be pretty easy to fleece the AI. About the only thing I did not like was many players after the amateur draft were already ML ready and would automatically become the best player on the team which is not realistic. Not sure if that has been changed but for the price of $40 you will easily get your money's worth. If you don't mind using fictional players and want to play against 31 other actual team owners Hardball Dynasty is loaded with realistic details.

Willie Aybar is now playing for the Edmonton Capitals of the North American Baseball League so he is still in baseball, just not professional ball.

I was expecting a few words on Mauer. Does he have just a simple virus and do you expect him to be back in the 15 days?

I've always wondered the order in which teams get to claim. I know it has to do with team record but is the record counted over the last 365 days, record in the current year, or something else. Thanks for your help.

I just did this in a fantasy hockey league (which I know nothing about) and churned basically my entire roster for the year (save for a few stars) based on how the players did over the prior 3 week span. I ended up finishing 11-5 in a H2H league so I was happy with the results.

I would have been interested in how he lived in Japan in comparison to the States. He also played for the most popular team in Japan and has to now go from packed houses to playing in Pawtucket.

Sure it appears that Silva sucks and he probably does but a few years back he had only 7 unintentional walks in 188 IP. If his arm isn't shredded he may have value to a team with stellar defense. We are probably just days away from Byrd signing for 3/33 and that will be the nail in the coffin for Hendry.

Canadian pitchers ... Harden, Bedard, Crain, J.Francis, E.Gagne, R.Dempster, S.Hill, A.Loewen, S.Mathieson, J.Zimmerman. I guess on the non-injured side there is Paul Quantrill and .......

If I was the Jays I wouldn't be interested in Aumont. Given the propensity of Canadian pitchers to come up injured as well as the Jays own history of pitching injuries he looks like a surgery waiting to happen.

For those who want to win their BP subscription money back go all in with KC over ANA on September 6th and PIT over SD on September 20th. Since it happens only twice this month that could be a reason why the odds of a home team would go up. Players don't like to be taken out of their routines.

Is there one GM out there right now that would take Jeter over Sizemore (12) or David Wright (13) for example? I don't think so.

Soccer players are also paid very well by their clubs but never turn down the chance to play for country. I think at an early age soccer players have playing for their country as a top priority. With baseball, playing for a winner or a big market club takes precidence. If the WBC can keep going maybe the attitude of baseball players will change as well over time.

How about more updates on the Japanese league? I would love to see at least one update per month. There are very few English websites on this topic so I think it would be a useful addition.
