To make these projections make sense, you need to update PECOTA during the season. Surely this season's stats are more predictive at the 40% mark than anything else?

As of today, Ventura and Duffy are both producing at a much higher level than Verlander. Just correcting for those three lines makes the AL Central division race essentially a tossup.

Seems to me that it makes little sense to continue to make playoff odds calculation on the basis of PECOTA projections that are now several months out of date.
