As good as the Rays look, I can't get over the DH being the worst hitter on the team. Maybe you can run a projection for Superman Shields to see if he can DH?

Is PECOTA weighing Howell's terrible 2007 as a starter in projecting those 2010 numbers? Otherwise, I can't see how a guy who's been one of the very best relievers in baseball suddenly becomes a fungible middle relief type (4 ERA, 1.30 WHIP).

I think this projection bodes very well for the Rays. I doubt they'll put up with such sub-par production from the DH spot. Johnny Damon's been making noise about "preferring" to play for the Rays this season; that alone (or a similar upgrade) would push the team up into Sox/Yankees territory, wouldn't it? Personally, I'd love to see what Branyon could do with the job. All those at-bats in the AL East hitters parks could lead to some freaky numbers.
