Tater Trot Tracker: Trot Times for April 11 |
The tater trots for April 11: Juan Uribe and Adrian Gonzalez hit home runs in a memorable Dodgers/Padres game.
The fireworks may have been flying last night, but it wasn't thanks to the long ball. In the seven games played across baseball, there were a total of eight home runs hit. With the way the season has began, it was very atypical.

The tater trots from April 10: Bryce Harper and Juan Francisco hit the ball really hard, Billy Butler runs really slow.
Thirty more home runs around the league on Wednesday even with two games rained out. Twenty of them can be attributed to just four games. What does this tell us about the season so far? Nothing, except that...

The tater trots from April 9: minor league Ramon Quinn gives us the real highlight of the day.
The Astros and Mariners combined for eight home runs on Tuesday. Yes, the Astros and Mariners. The Yankees and Indians combined for six more. In Washington, the White Sox and Nationals also hit six. These three games helped lead us to the first forty home run night of the season. Thanks, guys!

The tater trots from April 7: Will Middlebrooks' big game, a pretty walkoff from Dayan Viciedo.
The first weekend is in the books. Raise your hand if you had Will Middlebrooks with the first three-homer game of the season?

It was a day of disappointments for some.

The tater trots for April 5: Chris Davis keeps going, Prince Fielder socks a couple, Jean Segura races around on his first trot.
Welcome to the first weekend of the new season! If you're a Nationals pitcher currently in Cincinnati, you may want to take it easy. Whiplash isn't the kind of thing to take lightly.

Tater Trot Tracker: Trot Times for April 4 |
The tater trots from April 4: Michael Morse and Chris Davis are ridiculously hot while a pair of Yankees speed on home.
The total number of home runs hit across the league went down on Thursday, but you wouldn't know it from the game in Toronto. The Blue Jays and Indians combined for seven home runs, with J.P. Arencibia launching two himself. You also wouldn't know it from Chris Davis or Michael Morse, who continue to place the ball over the fence as if it belonged to an annoying neighbor. All in all, not a bad way for this first week to continue.

The tater trots for April 3: Manny goes deep across the world, Gio can't keep from smiling, Upton busts out the speed.
Well that didn't take long. On the first day of the season in which all 30 teams played, there are 36 home runs hit around the league. There's nothing extreme about that number, but it is rather early in the season to see so many hit in a single day. At least it was full of interesting homers.

Tater Trot Tracker: Trot Times for April 2 |
The tater trots for April 2: Yu Darvish's near-perfect night, Pete Kozma might cause a divorce.
Only the second full day of the season and we've already had a near-perfect game. Against the Astros no less. If this kind of thing keeps up, 2013 could be a very exciting year.

The tater trot times for Opening Day, including two special days from Clayton Kershaw and Bryce Harper.
Opening Day is finally in the books and the 2013 season is underway! What a long cold (and then warm and then cold again) winter it has been. But spring is finally in the air and baseball is on our doorstep for the next six-plus months. Can't complain about that.
