Prospectus Roundtable: Mark Prior and Pitch Counts

0

Baseball Prospectus

When Dusty Baker allowed Mark Prior to throw 126 pitches last Thursday against the Brewers, it was the final straw for Gary Huckabay. The major-league portion allows teams to select players left off 40-man rosters for $50,000, with the caveat that the player must be kept on the 25-man roster all season or be offered back to his original team for $25,000. The minor-league portions work similarly, but without the mandatory roster provision.
