What the Koz saw: And other adventures.

We keep waiting for Jacoby Ellsbury and Yadier Molina to have a showdown on the basepaths, but while we wait Pete Kozma and Craig Breslow snuck in to produce the most unexpected cat-and-mouse moment of the series.

The patient approach against Wacha works, but not well enough.

Throughout the World Series, we'll be providing two recaps of each game, one with a focus on the winner and the other devoting a longer look to the loser. This is the Red Sox entry for Game One. The Cardinals edition is here.

What the questions posed to each manager before Game One reveal about the storylines surrounding each team.

Conceptually, if not always in actuality, the baseball manager’s pregame press conference is an incredible opportunity.

The Fall Classic gets underway with a battle of aces at Fenway.

I know it’s in season to congratulate the Red Sox and the Cardinals for making it to the Fall Classic—and they certainly deserve the accolades—but they are not the only groups worthy of weathering the journey. We, the general baseball following universe, deserve a congratulations. Sure, there were plenty of amazing games/moments, but here’s a quick list of things we (the baseball-consuming public) have had to endure this October thus far:

Breaking down the Dodgers' darkest timeline.

To a certain extent, context determines how ugly a loss looks. Under normal circumstances, a 9-0 defeat can be classified as convincing. Anibal Sanchez's one bad inning.

There are worse places to be than needing to win starts by Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander. But, as they say, the Red Sox pitchers live in mansions, too.
