BP Announcements: Scoresheet Draft Aid 2013 |
Baseball Prospectus brings back the popular Scoresheet Baseball Draft Aid, remaining Scoresheet-friendly in 2013. In time for public league drafts!
Last year, Baseball Prospectus introduced the Scoresheet Draft Aid to help Scoresheet Baseball players with their drafts. And many got to see a free trial last March. Since its inception, the most common piece of feedback by Scoresheet players who have used it is that it's "too good" and that it levels the playing field, erasing the edge that can be gained by an opponent through hours, days, or even months of research. This year, BP has welcomed Tim Collins, a new member of the tech team who is helping make it even better than the inaugural edition! So, look for upcoming improvements, including incorporation of the new prospect rankings by Jason Parks.
First, a recap of the basic functionality: Scoresheet Draft Aid is a tool to help with Scoresheet Baseball drafts, powered by PECOTA. (And remember that any "/fantasy" URL on the site can be accessed using "/f" instead, which can be useful for avoiding filters). To find the Scoresheet Draft Aid in the future, simply click on "Fantasy" on the main menu, which takes you to a page with this sub-menu:

A new edition of Player Forecast Manager for generating in-season and past-season values.

Soon, the regular PFM will be updated with data from the 2013 PECOTAs. However, if you would still like to generate values based on the as-is 2012 stats—or stats from any of the past five seasons—this functionality will be available in the new PFM Year-to-Date (YTD). When the season begins, you will also be able to use PFM YTD to generate values for your league based on 2013 statistics.

BP Announcements: The Annual, PECOTA, and Fantasy Subscriptions UPDATED |
We answer your questions about the approaching arrival and rollout of our offerings for early 2013.
In recent days, we’ve started to receive a steady stream of questions about Baseball Prospectus 2013, the upcoming PECOTA release, and the start of this season’s fantasy subscriptions. This post is an attempt to address all of those questions in one place. Let’s take them one by one:
Baseball Prospectus 2013
Baseball Prospectus 2013, the 18th edition of our bestselling annual, is available for preorder through amazon.com and bn.com for $14.38, a 42 percent discount off the list price. Once again edited by King Kaufman and Cecilia M. Tan, the book features comments for close to 2200 players (over 150 more than the measly 2000-something that appeared in last year’s edition), essays for all 30 teams, and a meaty list of baseball’s Top 101 prospects provided by Jason Parks and other members of the BP prospect team. BP2013 also includes additional essays by Colin Wyers and Russell Carleton, as well as a foreword by Houston Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow, who (as you may have heard) is not unaware of our work.
