Keep in mind that this isn't necessarily about Posey as much as it might be about Jackson Williams, the catcher at Double-A. Williams can barely hold his own offensively in the Eastern League, so they don't want to push him up, but they see him as Posey's backup long-term, and he is in the argument when you talk about the best defensive catchers in the minors. (John from Sacramento, CA) | I don't know the official reason, but there might be a bit of a numbers game going on. The catcher at Double-A right now is Jackson Williams, who stinks as a hitter, but is also one of the best defensive backstops in the minors, so they want to keep getting him BAs in hope that he'll hit ENOUGH to be a backup.
