BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2009 As slappy as ever, Brandon Watson dares to reach for the grass just beyond the infield dirt once in a while, but he's slowing down on the bases and he's no longer really playable in center.
2008 A singles machine even Timbaland might envy, Brandon Watson cranked out a 43-game hitting streak for Columbus last year. He deserves a better shot, and should get one with the Phillies in spring training.
2007 Watson might suffer some guilt by association for coming over form the Nats as a waiver claim in the aftermath of the Kearns trade. Like most aspiring fifth outfield types, he hits lefty, runs well, can handle playing in center, and lights a candle every week praying to Tom Goodwin, their patron saint, that he, too, will someday luck into an everyday job.
2006 Laughably compared to Ichiro, but that`s probably more a case of the uncomfortable recognition among scouts that a player you`d compare to Jason Tyner isn`t a prospect. The Nats are discussing him as a possible regular in their outfield, a notion the rest of division is happy to contemplate. If there`s a silver lining to the decisions to sign both Michael Tucker and Marlon Anderson, it`s that they should keep Watson in Triple-A.
2005 He sucks, but he's fast. Obviously, the Expos have no choice but to keep him around, while letting other useful or interesting players go. It'd be sad, except they're now in other organizations, while Watson is a National. This chapter is like tasting entries in the annual chili cook-off in Edinburgh, Scotland. Yes, this one isn't too spicy. The overboiling did make the beans too mushy on this one, but it also made the ground intestinal lining easier to chew on. This is good—is that beef? Wait, no, don't tell me.
