BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2013 Rich Thompson got his first career hit on May 17, eight years after his big-league debut, and until his speedy wheels fall off he'll have a Triple-A job somewhere.
2005 Officially, the Pirates like to claim that the Rule 5 debacle of December 2003 didn't hurt them. Of the five guys picked, they're quick to mention that they got three back. Except of course that they didn't, not quite like that: Bautista had to be reacquired in trade and lose a year of his career to their mistake, Frank Brooks is gone again, and who wants Rich Thompson? Meanwhile, Chris Shelton and Jeff Bennett look pretty useful, and the Bucs get to brag about how smart it was to sign Chris Stynes, Raul Mondesi, and Randall Simon with the three roster spots they left open.
