DateQuestionAnswer
2016-06-16 21:00:00 (link to chat)What do you make of Eugenio Suarez's struggles? Love the power but he's been in a huge slump for awhile now. Is he a sell, hold, or buy in a dynasty?
(treynay3 from Florida)
I might try to buy him if his owner thinks he was a mirage. He's not a star but he can help. (Bret Sayre)
2016-04-21 19:00:00 (link to chat)Does Trevor Story and/or Eugenio Suarez stay fantasy relevant throughout this season, or will they most likely be on/off the waiver wire?
(Ron from Texarkana)
They'll both be fantasy relevant, even if/when they do slip later this year. Shortstop is a fairly thin position, and while I expect both of them to slump, both should do enough in the power/speed department to maintain fantasy value even if the batting average falls. Maybe in 10-team mixed you might be able to eventually do better. (Mike Gianella)
2016-04-14 20:00:00 (link to chat)Dynasty pick 2 between Addison Russell, Corey Seager, and Eugenio Suarez. Thanks.
(Alex from CA)
Easy call. Russell and Seager. They're both worth massively more than Suarez. (Scooter Hotz)
2016-03-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on Eugenio Suarez? Picked him up in a recent trade (for J Turner) because I liked what he did last year and it looks like he'll play every day either at 3rd or short. Thought he might profile as a possible 20 HR SS in that park but it looks like he has a pretty clear path to the 3rd base gig. Also would like your thoughts on Hector Olivera and his potential ceiling with the Braves. Thx.
(misterbob from pa)
Yeah, you're right on it re: Suarez. Really dig the eligibility, and he's got some pop that should help him return decent value. Olivera I have as little read on as any player in the majors. Didn't like what I saw out of him last year, too much uncertainty for me to draft with any confidence. Between the two I'd go Suarez comfortably. (Wilson Karaman)
2016-01-21 19:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Eugenio Suarez move to third base? What kind of production do you see with his future value ? Thanks !
(Joe from Ohio)
Not interested. Sorry. So many better options. (George Bissell)
2015-07-23 17:00:00 (link to chat)I'm in a 20 team dynasty league and I'd really like to add a starter (pretty thin behind Sale and Gray). This is my offense: C Grandal, 1B Duda, 2B Dozier, 3B Arenado, SS Miller, LF Byrd, CF Cain, RF Granderson, bench Baez, Alcantara, Cesar Hernandez, Burns, Carter, Eugenio Suarez. Minors roster: Mazara, Nick Williams, Olivera, Barreto, Berrios. Based on those names, who would you try to trade for a starter, and what kind of guy would you target? I'm in 2nd this year but would really like to keep those prospects if possible. I'm not sure who to shop and just wondering if you had any thoughts. Thanks Mike!
(Nathan from Indiana)
I would try to trade Byrd or Grandy for a starter and I'd target a third tier guy. Try to push for someone like Shelby Miller, who has slumped somewhat but should still have some value down the stretch. And, yes, avoid moving those prospects unless someone is dumping and trading you two upgrades to your active lineup! (Mike Gianella)
2015-07-23 17:00:00 (link to chat)Cesar Hernandez...any staying power as a solid MI in dynasty leagues? Do you prefer him or Eugenio Suarez?
(Nate from Grand Rapids)
Probably not. A nice start, but I don't see him as more than a fringy starting option. Suarez is similar, but because of Suarez's defense he's more likely to hang onto a starting job long term. Suarez, but "eh" to both of them. (Mike Gianella)
2015-07-23 17:00:00 (link to chat)I have a bunch of fringy MI in a 20 team dynasty league. But because it's a 20 teamer, they all have some value. If you have to cut one of Brad Miller, Eugenio Suarez, Arismendy Alcantara, Jed Lowrie, or Cesar Hernandez, which 1 of them would you get rid of? How would you rank those guys in a dynasty league going forward?
(Thomas from Wrigleyville)
I'd cut Hernandez, although if you're counting on stats for this year, that's kind of tough. The long term ranking for me is Alcantara, Miller, Lowrie, Suarez, and Hernandez. (Mike Gianella)
2014-07-22 15:00:00 (link to chat)What can you tell me about Andrew Velasquez of South Bend? Does he have anything that you can get excited about?
(Chris from Phoenix)
Sure. He's annoying as hell. I mean that in a good way. Another guy who I gave that distinction to is Eugenio Suarez. Pesky, aggravating, whatever. Velasquez works hard at the plate to get himself into good counts to hit the ball hard. He has a plan of attack, and doesn't give in. His physical gifts limit him to be sure, but I could see him developing into a nice utility player at the big league level. He's small, but quick and decent in the field. Tries to get the good hop. Arm is average. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-06-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)In the very deapest of dynasty leagues, would you consider Kevin Kiermaier, Jesus Montero, Brock Holt, Brandon Barnes, Bobby Abreu, Eugenio Suarez, Rene Rivera, Steve Pearce, and Juan Lagares. In what order would you rank them of those you would consider?
(Donald from Orlando)
I'd look at Kiermaier, and Holt most among that group. Kiermaier has some nice PT with Myers down and Holt seems to be ready to play anywhere to stay in the lineup. There isn't a lot of disparity in the group, but for this year only, I'd still give Abreu a look, too. Beyond that, Suarez and Montero would be my next two. (Paul Sporer)
2014-05-27 11:30:00 (link to chat)ETA for Eugenio Suarez and Steven Moya 19XBH in a month and only 1 BB in AA..what do you make of that
(BaseballDaddy from your old room)
I think Suarez is pretty close. He's a pretty underrated talent. With the position of SS so down in the majors (it's awesome in the minors of course), a .250/.330/.370 type guy with average defense at a premium position is not a common commodity. Romine, short of the last few games, and Worth have been absolutely abysmal at the plate, and not that great in the field. I think they're going to want to see how he does for ~100 or so AB before deciding if they need to make a move. This all hinges on Iglesias' health, of course.

In terms of Moya, I'm probably the low man on him. He has no barrel control, a long swing, and not much approach. The power is definitely real, but I don't know if it ever plays to utility. I'd keep him in AA for as long as I could. He seems like the type of guy who may figure it out at some point, but I'd wager it's closer to his age 28 season than his age 24. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-06-17 20:00:00 (link to chat)Where would pop-up guys Eugenio Suarez and Danny Santana fit in your list of recent draftees for Scoresheet value?
(JRMayne from West Coast 'Sheeter)
An insightful question from a man everyone knows, I'm sure! If you're a contending team, we'd have Suarez and Santana ahead of the pack in AL formats, behind only the top tier of Rodon, Aiken and Gordon. Less assuredly contending teams should probably look at the next batch of draftees before taking them. Both Suarez and Santana are over their heads, but we'd prefer Suarez in the long run.
