BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2010 Arguably the most disappointing prospect in 2009, the Braves were expecting a breakout from lefty Cole Rohrbough, but instead got an ERA approaching 6.00 as everything about his game went backwards.
2009 A power lefty with a great curve, Rohrbough was hampered by shoulder and ankle injuries in 2008, the latter of which required off-season surgery. He was also undermined by Rome's poor defense, as can be seen by the run and a half of ERA he shed upon his promotion to High-A Myrtle Beach. Rohrbough needs more consistency with his changeup and will repeat at Myrtle Beach to start the season, but could make the leap to Double-A by mid-year and could emerge as a strong mid-rotation starter provided his body holds up.
2008 Rohrbough joined Hanson as one of the Braves' last draft-and-follow finds, and could be a gem. Given nearly $700,000 to not go back into the draft last June, Rohrbough overmatched hitters after signing. A big, physical lefty who already has a plus fastball, outstanding curve, and tons of command, he has a very high ceiling.

2008-05-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Am I foolish in thinking that Cole Rohrbough is the Braves' best pitching prospect, not Tommy Hanson?
(Eric from Bedford)
I don't agree, but you're hardly foolish -- you could certainly make that arguement. (Kevin Goldstein)
2008-03-26 12:00:00 (link to chat)Cole Rohrbough had some sick numbers in the minors last year. Is the kid for real with his strikeout potential?
(Carl from Pawtucket)
I like Rohrbough quite a bit, as few left-handers can match his results and some pretty fantastic stuff. He's obviously not going to be that good going forward, because he doesn't have ace stuff, but he should be a real good #3. I'm a big fan. (Bryan Smith)
