2009 Robertson came to Arizona with Haren to even up the number of bodies in the deal a bit, and pitched much better than his Triple-A ERA, with solid ratios across the board. He's very similar to Petit, only with less control and maybe even more deception—his natural motion is a twisting delivery that hides the ball behind his body and head until just moments before its release. It should work enough to get him a few more shots, but his ceiling ends there. Dealt to the Mets in December for Scott Schoeneweis, Robertson will be in the mix for the trash-time brigade in Flushing.
2008 Traded to Arizona with Dan Haren, righty Connor Robertson doesn't have a ton of stuff, but he's found success with one of the more deceptive deliveries around.
2007 Robertson is a power pitcher without much power. His sinker-slider combination isn`t anything special, but his deceptive peek-a-boo delivery makes all his pitches tough to read, and it`s a good sinker; in 194 professional innings, he`s given up only five homers. He`s 25 and not the sort of pitcher who`s going to move anywhere quickly--he spent all of last season in the Texas League--but if he can maintain those numbers with Sacramento this spring, the A`s won`t be able to ignore him.
