BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2011 Australian for inconsistent, Naylor has a fastball that tops out in the low 80s but an effective slow curveball. The large separation in velocity between the curve and his harder stuff has led to some concern that he might be tipping the pitch. Itís hard to imagine a major-league role for him without a few extra ticks on the heater, but he has control enough that he could scrape by on the kitchen-sink approach.
2010 Drew Naylor is a big-bodied Aussie with a beaut of a curve, but slow heat and a slow delivery suggest jumping to Double-A won't be easy.
2009 Few in the system took a bigger step forward than Australian righty Drew Naylor after he led the organization in strikeouts, the products of his solid velocity and an outstanding curveball.
2008 The Phillies' Australian scouting program almost seems to be more prolific than their domestic operation. Drew Naylor has a good fastball and a decent curve, but probably is best suited to the bullpen.
