2011-08-16 17:00:00 (link to chat)Do you think Mr. Slightly Above Average at Mostly Everything (Brett Jackson) will be up this year??
(moehk21 from NYC)
That, or Jim Hendry will release him to make room for the recently released Trever Miller. All joking aside, Jackson needs to be added to the 40 man roster first before he can be called up but I see several candidates that could be released to make room for him. (Jason Collette)
2008-10-24 14:00:00 (link to chat)Does David Price get the Goose Gossage treatment the rest of the way for the Rays after the 2 1/3 he pitched last night? The more he pitches, the better off the Rays are, in my opinion.
(Tim from Sonoma, CA)
I can't see Maddon relying exclusively on him the rest of the way when Balfour looked good in Game One and Howell is rested too. Maddon seems determined to mix and match in ways that might keep the Phillies unsettled (the infield shift on Utley for example, or the RF "platoon"). Throwing different looks at their lefty hitters is likely on the menu, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of Howell and even Trever Miller in Game Three. (Jay Jaffe)

2008-10-22 16:30:00World Series Game One"jessehoffins (Swarthmore, PA): Joe- As to Howard's placement in the lineup, you really think pushing him back to eighth makes sense against a pitcher that almost never makes it past the 6th anyway? I understand his awful platoons, but Charlie Manuel has to believe that getting him one extra at bat late in a game is worth it. "

An at-bat that, if it means anything, will probably come against J.P. Howell, or David Price, or Trever Miller, all of whom Howard can't hit.

He's a platoon player.
