2006 McDougall has mastered Triple-A, but doesn`t look like anything more than a very good utility infielder. There are plenty of those jobs available, and why some guys get to hang onto them for a decade while the McDougalls have to wait around in the bush leagues is one of the great mysteries of baseball. The firm line between "major leaguers" and the rest of the baseball players in the world has been blurring as teams begin to accept the legitimacy of minor league performance as a predictor of major league ability. McDougall is exactly the kind of player who deserves to benefit.
2005 McDougall's kind of been lost in the shuffle as he's bounced around, but he can help a big league club. The Rangers picked him up in the Rule 5 Draft, and thought enough of him to send a minor league pitcher back to Cleveland for his rights. He's got some pop, can play in the infield or outfield, and has no service time. McDougall's a model for the 25th guy on the roster, and he'll eventually have a major league career.
