| 2011-02-08 14:00:00 | I was wondering if you could help me pick out 4 keepers in an auction league. Cabrera $35, Tulo $31, Cliff $21, Weeks $8, Marmol $8, Bruce $6 and Rios $3? Thanks! (Jesus from Provo, Utah) | Dude, I haven't played roto in about 15 years -- I did well with Bob Hamelin and Geronimo Berroa, to give you some perspective -- so Marc and our crack fantasy crew are far better qualified to answer that. Seriously, drop them a line, as they're always happy to answer questions. That being said, an $8 closer seems valuable, so I'd keep Marmol. Weeks at $8 looks good, especially if Roenicke lets him run a bit more this year. Rios at $3 is a bargain, as is Bruce at $6. I'm cheap, so I always cut the big money guys even though Cabrera, Tulo and Leef are terrific. Anyone else want to give Jesus some advice? Put it in a question and I'll throw it out here. (Ken Funck) |
| 2009-12-29 15:00:00 | Hey Joe, Will Jesus Montero be the DH for the Yanks in 2011? Has there ever been a player to only DH (and never play teh field)? Will he ever play the field and where? (yanks2009 from DC) | Answering this just because I'm curious and want to put it out there...what player with significant starts (100? 200? higher?) had the highest % of DH starts. Sam Horn? Reggie Jefferson? Bob Hamelin? Travis Hafner?
Montero will be a first baseman down the road, although I truly wish the Yankees would just let him catch and live with -10 defense. He looks different than Posada does, but they suffered through Jorge's career, may as well do it with the high-impact hitter. (Joe Sheehan) |
| 2009-09-29 13:00:00 | So future performance should be part of the RoY voting calculus? You don't like Bob Hamelin being on the list of winners? In that same vien, should Wieters win in the AL since he's the best prospect as it were (and I know you're not KG) (Lincoln from Dallas) | But then you're giving him an award for future performance, which you can't possibly know about. What we've been talking about, I guess that's more in the vein of a tie-breaker between candidates. (Steven Goldman) |
| 2009-06-18 13:00:00 | Sandoval = Bob Hamelin. Seriously, why do people only like to explore upside comps? (Rick from Chicago) | I don't know, people yell at me when I'm negative. (Marc Normandin) |
