2016-05-18 19:00:00 (link to chat)Pick 2 (ROS): Khris Davis, Brandon Drury, Danny Valencia, and Yasmany Tomas
(AJ from Boston)
Danny Valencia and Khris Davis. It's funny Davis is tied for the AL lead in home runs. I've been in on Valencia all offseason, assuming that the hamstring doesn't flare up again, he's going to hit for a ton of power. The progress he's made against right-handed pitching isn't a fluke. (George Bissell)
2016-04-25 23:00:00 (link to chat)Why oh why do the DBacks have no faith in Jake Lamb against lefties? Shouldn't Brandon Drury beat it so Lamb can play everyday?
(Jack Shepherd from ?)
Nah, Drury's a solid player who can be grow into a versatile asset. I like what they're doing there in the real world, fantasy frustrations be damned. (Wilson Karaman)
2016-02-23 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Matt - who are a couple prospects that havent been talked about too much that deserve more attention? You have a sleeper from the 2015 draft that you think is about to explode?
(Guy from Couch)
I know he's a top-100 guy, but I'll say Michael Fulmer. Him and Brandon Drury. I do NOT have a 2015 Draft sleeper. (Matthew Trueblood)
2015-09-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)Will Brandon Drury push Jake Lamb off 3B in Arizona? Or are the other D-Back options at 2B so weak that he will settle in as the regular there next year, even if his defensive chops aren't the best?
(Paul from DC)
I think the best-case scenario is Lamb at third, Drury at second, but the Diamondbacks have to decide who they want at shortstop before they can decide who they want at second base. Are they willing to live with Nick Ahmed's glove to get his bat in the lineup? If so, do they prefer Owings' glove to Drury's bat? I don't know the answers, but at least they're interesting questions—and I think that's quickly becoming an interesting team. (R.J. Anderson)
2015-09-21 20:30:00 (link to chat)Should I be holding onto Brandon Drury in a 200-prospect league?
(Jack from FL)
Absolutely you should. (Bret Sayre)
2015-07-28 18:00:00 (link to chat)Is Brandon Drury worth owning in a dynasty league with 200 prospects? Seems like a good 2B bat, but he's hit for NO power.
(Alex from Texas)
Yeah and there's some power in the profile, certainly more than he's shown this year. (Mauricio Rubio)
2015-02-04 19:00:00 (link to chat)Other than maybe some different names at the back end, would there be any significant ranking differences between the BP 101 and your personal 101?
(Shawnykid23 from CT)
I can't really speak to that since the BP 101 isn't officially released yet. But, in general, some guys I'm higher on than other lists are: Tyler Glasnow, Reese McGuire, Aaron Judge, Manuel Margot, Brandon Drury, Nomar Mazara, ad Jorge Mateo. Guys I'm a bit lower on: Aaron Sanchez, Nick Williams, Josh Bell, Matt Olson, Hunter Harvey, Tyrone Taylor, Luis Severino, Brandon Nimmo. Hope that helps. (Jordan Gorosh)
2015-01-05 15:00:00 (link to chat)How many MLB at bats for Brandon Drury this year?
(Chris from Baltimore)
Good redeeming question Chris. You’re as cool as the other side of the pillow.

Drury’s PT this year will depend on a number of things, most of them positional. How well will he take to 2B? There have been limited looks at him there because he’s only played there sparingly, but it does create versatility and more opportunities. Secondly, how much 3B does Tomas end up playing? That would create a much bigger obstacle for Drury than Jake Lamb currently is (though Lamb will be blocking him too).

In the end, he only has 29 games in Double-A under his belt, so there’s no guarantee he even reaches the big leagues this year. He just turned 22, has more development to go, and lots of guys blocking him. He may not even see the majors this year, and that’s ok. (Jeff Moore)
2014-11-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)What do you think was the most interesting internal debate you guys had for the NL Central lists (Ranking someone 1 vs. 2, On the Rise vs. left off Top 10, etc.)?
(Shawnykid23 from CT)
There is always lots of great debate -- way to many to list. A few that jump to mind (both published list and those still to come) are Almora vs Soler, Josh Bell's ultimate positioning on the Pirates list, Michael Taylor vs AJ Cole, Brandon Drury's placement in the 'Zona list, Kyle Crick vs. Tyler Beede vs. Steve Okert (was more of a comparative exercise than straight rankings debate)...

It's a daily joy to kind around evaluative approaches and argue the merits of certain player profiles in the abstract and on a specific player to player basis -- by far my favorite aspect of being involved with BP. (NL Central Top 10s With Nick Faleris)
2014-11-04 18:00:00 (link to chat)I read that the D-Backs tried Brandon Drury at second base in the AFL? How did he look, and what is the possibility he can play there. The bat would play elite at that position I would imagine.
(Nick from AZ)
I didn't hear good things about the limited experiment, and given my past experience with the player, that's not terribly surprising. He's going to be a corner infielder from start to finish and the bat should play just fine for him to be an above-average player. (Mark Anderson)
2014-10-31 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who were some players that impressed you the most/least out in Arizona?
(Shawnykid23 from CT)
- Mallex Smith has a plus glove in the OF and plus speed. Not sure if he ever hits, but that's a 4th OF type at the very worst.
- Brandon Drury looked the part
- Hunter Renfroe shows serious power and his BP was the best. The hip torque and drive he gets while demonstrating plus bat speed and whipping the bat head through the zone, it's just so impressive. We shall see if he hits enough to allow the power to play up.

- Sam Wolff looked the same as when I saw him early in the year. I can't trust the secondary arsenal (CB,CH). Had a hard time finding a release point or arm slot for both. Reliever all the way for me, but could see issues if he can't consistently piece it together with at least one of those pitches. The CB is much further along.
- Chad Wallach had pop times over 2.00 and has below-average tools across the board. Nothing different from when I saw him with Greensboro (where he hit .321/.430/.476) (Tucker Blair)
2014-10-31 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who is a prospects outside a top 100 who we should start paying more attention too?
(Scott from AZ)
Brandon Drury. He is better than I think we are giving him credit. (Tucker Blair)
2014-07-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)Jake Lamb or Brandon Drury the next eB in Arizona ?
(Bob from Phoenix)
Lamb, let's bet on the closer guy. Neither has a MAJOR ceiling. (Paul Sporer)
