2013 Tim Dillard can induce enough double-play grounders with his mid-80s sinker to get filed somewhere between bullpen filler and bullpen beef, although managers that let him face too many lefties deserve the indigestion that's sure to follow.
2012 There isn't much call for ROOGYs in the game today, but Dillard mixes his heavy sinking "fastball" and slider in a manner that causes right-handed batters to ground out hopelessly with great frequency. In a world with more than 25 roster slots, he'd have a lot more job security.
2010 Moved back to the rotation after a successful stint in Nashville’s 2008 pen, ground-ball specialist Tim Dillard once again proved he doesn’t miss enough bats when he starts.
2009 A 2002 draft-and-follow—as a catcher—this son of former major league infielder Steve Dillard has seen his stock as a prospect fall in recent years. He's a sinkerballer who generates ground balls galore, but his mediocre secondary offerings made him all too hittable. A full-time shift to the bullpen helped him miss more bats, and like DiFelice, he wound up serving a couple of stints with the big club, first in May when the injury bug bit, and again in September once rosters expanded. The Brewers could use a double-play specialist in their bullpen, but it remains to be seen whether Dillard has the stuff to succeed in that role.
2008 Lacking great stuff, the knock on otherwise well-regarded sinkerballer Tim Dillard-the son of former major league utilityman Steve Dillard-had always been his inability to miss bats. It caught up to him in Nashville, sending his peripherals plunging through the floor.
2007 Tim Dillard isn`t seen as a top prospect, but he`s got a nifty sinker and easy, repeatable mechanics. If he masters some off-speed stuff, he could make it to a big league rotation.
