DateQuestionAnswer
2016-06-23 14:00:00 (link to chat)What do you make of Nimmo's success in AAA this year? Can he be a 3 WAR guy?
(Renley from Croatia)
To steal a take from a smart person on Twitter, here's a little food for thought:
Brandon Nimmo, 2016 PCL: .329/.413/.517
Darrell Ceciliani, 2015 PCL: .345/.398/.581
Eric Campbell, career PCL: .328/.443/.507
Now, Nimmo is obviously more of a prospect than those other two guys, and did pretty well for himself at Double-A last year. But the PCL is a fickle and incredibly hitter-friendly environment, so it's often hard to know what's real and what's not. I'm sure Nimmo will see a bit of MLB action at some point this year, but don't set your expectations too high just yet. I think being a 3-WARP player at some point is attainable for him, but he could also settle in as a bench guy. (Nicolas Stellini)
2011-03-22 11:00:00 (link to chat)Morning to you Paul, personally what prospect that has flown under the radar has intrigued you the most as say a potential sleeper ?
(Tommy from Queens NY)
Tommy, if I mention him now, he won't be a sleeper anymore! There are a few guys I like that don't seem to have gotten a lot of popular attention. Two of them are Aderlin Rodriguez and Darrell Ceciliani. Both played for short-season clubs last year, and I suspect both will be in full-season this summer and will be given a little more exposure. Rodriguez has big power and is just beginning to come into his own. Ceciliani is a throw-back type player - good at-bats, good runner, plays CF, doesn't wear batting gloves. It's easy to root for both of them. (Paul DePodesta)
