2013-03-08 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on the most recent Donavan Tate news?
(Bryant from Oceanside, CA)
Hey Bryant, yeah, that's a bummer. For those who don't know, Donavan Tate, the third pick overall in 2009, is not in Padres camp due to "personal reasons." Tate owns a career .241/.358/.320 line in about 700 PA spread over three seasons, none above High-A. He isn't quite in Matt Bush territory yet, but he is fast approaching. What a complete disappointment. (Geoff Young)
2010-09-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)But whose call was it to draft me first instead of Justin Verlander?
(Matt Bush from Prison?)
Matt Bush is a pitcher now! Also I think a lot of the people responsible for that were cleared out when Sandy Alderson came on board. (Marc Normandin)

2009-06-09 14:30:002009 Draft CoverageThe list of SD first round picks on the screen is just cruel to Padres fans. San Diego takes Donavan Tate, and that's the highest upside they've maybe ever selected. Grady Fuson loved this guy from day one, and unlike the Matt Bush disaster, they actually got the approval to spend the money on the guy they like. MONSTER athlete. (Kevin Goldstein)
